If there is one thing that plagues the settled systems in Starfield, it’s the Terramorphs. When you sign up for the UC Vanguard, you will be faced with a decision between Aceles or Microbe. After you go on a journey discovering the secrets and mystery of Terramorphs that do nothing but hunt humans, this decision will decide the fate of Terramorphs and how the UC deals with it.
In this guide, we will help you make the decision between Aceles or Microbe by explaining to you what these decisions result in for not only the Terramorphs but also for the humans facing them in the future.
Aceles or Microbe: Which decision should you pick in Starfield?
When you finally come face to face with Vae Victus in his cell after the Hostile Intelligence mission, he will reveal his involvement with the Terramorphs and all of his understanding of how the Terramorphs evolve with the Lazarus Plants. He will reveal that he was the one behind the recent Terramorph attacks by managing to grow Terramorphs outside of their habitat in Londinion using the Lazarus Plant pollen.
But Victus also wants this to be a secret in order to preserve his and his daughter Hadrian’s legacy. Instead, he wants his former ally Reginald Orlase as the perpetrator of this attack (he had already passed away a long time ago). Despite all this, it will be in your hands whether or not you should tell the truth to Hadrian about her father.
If you do tell her, Hadrian will confront the council about this herself. If you don’t, then you can tell this to the council yourself or keep it a secret. Regardless, you will now come to the decision of choosing between Aceles or Microbe in front of the council. These are two methods by which the Terramorphs can be dealt with, so let’s look at what happens for each of these outcomes.
What happens if you choose Aceles in Starfield?
If you choose to deploy the Aceles as the safest outcome, then the UC will start genetically engineering Aceles to fight the Terramorphs. This is good because these creatures are known to have a taste for Terramorphs and are big enough to easily overpower them. Aceles are also friendly to humans.
However, they can still be hostile if provoked, and making this decision means you will now see them often with UC officers trying to fight off the Terramorphs across the galaxy.
What happens if you choose Microbe in Starfield?
Choosing Microbes is the more experimental way to deal with Terramorphs, something that has not been done before. It involves developing a pathogen that wipes out Terramorphs and Heatleeches as well in a quick and fast way. But the cabinet will express how this can backfire and mutate to affect humans as well. It can also be useless in the long term if the Terramorphs develop immunity to it.
However, for you personally, this decision between Aceles or Microbe won’t really affect much. Choosing Microbe will at least give you some appreciation from your companions and raise their affinity level as they support this decision. So it is advised you choose this one if the lore doesn’t bother you too much. Despite the decisions, the end rewards for the UC Vanguard storyline stay the same.
