As you help the citizens scattered around the world in Dragon’s Dogma 2, some of their requests prove more difficult than others. That’s definitely the case as you work to complete The Gift of Giving, which requires you to hand over a number of precious materials to a young lady living in the slums. The rarest of the materials is the Gold Ore, but you can fetch some easily enough if you know where to look.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 – Where to Find Gold Ore for The Gift of Giving
You meet Daphne in the slums, and she remains in that area throughout the quest. You typically find her either on the hill near the entrance to the slums (in the evenings), or in front of The Gracious Hand during daylight. Daphne has a series of four requests. Eventually, she will want Gold Ore. The easiest way to acquire Gold Ore is to buy it from a traveling merchant.
When you first meet Daphne on the hillside in the evening, she wants a Bunch of Flowers. You can mix a few varieties of flowers to produce the item. I immediately had some available in my inventory, without having to go through that process. My pawns like picking flowers, apparently, when they’re not busy getting excited about ladders.

The next item Daphne requests is Silver Ore. You likely have some in your inventory, if you’ve been exploring. You can find Silver Ore wherever you mine ore deposits, typically within caves or sometimes along cliffsides near the water. The same is true of the Gold Ore. However, keep in mind that Gold Ore is much rarer. You may have to mine quite a few mineral deposits to find enough Gold Ore.
There’s an easier way. After you hand over Silver Ore, Daphne’s next request is for two pieces of Gold Ore. The game lets you know that you can mine for the ore, or buy it from a merchant. However, the merchants in town don’t seem to carry Gold Ore. To buy it, you need to find a traveling merchant.
Leave the city through its north exit. Once you are out in the field, check your map with The Gift of Giving mission set as your objective. You should see a glowing beacon of golden light, somewhere not far from the city. In my case, it was off to the east, across a river. If you make your way toward that point, you may find a mineral deposit that yields ore, or encounter a traveling merchant along the way.
Should you meet with the traveling merchant, you can buy Gold Ore for 1000 G per chunk. The merchant carries as many as five chunks of it at once. I went ahead and bought all five.
With the ore in hand, you can head back to Daphne and hand it over to her. She will have one more request: medicine. You can buy five Detoxifying Decoctions from Philbert’s Sundries, located nearby in the Merchant Quarter. They cost 500 G apiece. Hand them over to Daphne to finally complete the request. Your reward is 900 XP, 100 G, and a precious Golden Trove Beetle.
