Keanu Reeves, who plays Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, took center stage at the 2023 Xbox Showcase to reveal the much-awaited Phantom Liberty trailer. In his short introductory speech, he confirmed that Idris Elba will be playing secret agent Soloman Reed in the upcoming DLC.
He further revealed that players will be able to explore a brand new area in Phantom Liberty called Dogtown. The expansion seems to be focused on the main mission of rescuing the president of the New United States, confirming leaks that surfaced yesterday. Reeves also thanked Idris for agreeing to be part of the game and assured players that Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty will be a massive one, with lots of things to do, areas to explore, and secrets to unlock.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty trailer and release date revealed
The trailer begins with Vee and Johnny hovering above the Night City in a spaceship, with Vee claiming that they are dying. We are soon introduced to a new character, Songbird, who claims they can help the protagonist, urging them to visit Dogtown. That is where Space Force One, the president’s spaceship, seems to have crashed, and the leader of Dogtown has taken her hostage. Vee seems to agree to help her, her eyes set on the promise of a cure for their condition.
The reveal features an extensive look at Idris Elba, a sleeper agent, now rushed for the rescue of the President. However, the Phantom Liberty trailer also suggests that Soloman Reed might not be completely honest and might have some part in the apparent danger the President is in. We can expect some stellar performance from the veteran actor as he takes on the role of a less-than-honest agent.
The trailer concludes with the developer announcing the Phantom Liberty DLC release date, set for September 26, 2023.
