The PlayStation Showcase 2023 gave gamers first glimpse into many titles releasing in 2023 and 2024. However, according to insider sources, many games were skipped during this showcase.
Promising leaks that surfaced days before the PS showcase had hyped several titles, including Ghost of Kamakura, a title by Sucker Punch, The Last of Us Factions by Naughty Dog, Twisted Metal by FireSprite, and Mortal Kombat by NetherRealm.
There are strong chances that we might see a few non-PS exclusive titles make an appearance in Summer Game Fest on June 12, however there were several rumored PS-exclusive titles that still made no appearance at the recent showcase. Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming also expressed his surprise, claiming that a lot of games we were expecting to see in the PS showcase on May 24 are pretty much ready. The possibility of Sony planning another showcase this year cannot be ruled out.
A popular gaming information leaker, The Snitch, also expressed his wonder regarding the omission of some of the expected titles, claiming that he was aware of some announcements that were not made during the showcase. He hints at a PC port of a certain game that’s bound to release in July. When asked for details by the fans, he merely stated that it’s a AAA game, not disclosing any new information or even the title.
A whopping 28 new games were announced during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Alan Wake 2. There were a lot of predictions for this PS showcase, with fans waiting desperately for news of Marvel’s Wolverine, Death Stranding 2, and Rise of Ronin. There were also talks about upcoming multiplayer editions for Horizon as well as The Last of Us. The PS showcase, however, failed to offer details about any of these projects.
