Lucasfilm Games’ upcoming title, Star Wars Outlaws, is slated for release in 2024. Microsoft and Ubisoft have revealed the cinematic trailer, with an announcement of the gameplay walkthrough reveal on June 12, 10 AM PDT at the Ubisoft Forward event.
Outlaws is supposed to be the first open-world Star Wars game. From the looks of the trailer, it seems to be set before the fall of the first galactic empire, somewhere in the timeline between The Empire Strikes Back and the Return of the Jedi. We see stormtroopers, frozen Han Solo, TIE Fighters, and Imperial Star Destroyers. Even Rancor and, for a brief movement, Chewie and Leila, make an appearance. We see the protagonist, Kay, a female outlaw, being hunted by bounty hunters and forced to run with her alien companion, Nix.
Gamers will be able to battle the underworld and take an all-in shot at their freedom with Kay Vess, a brand-new character in Star Wars Outlaws. The developers promise to offer a nostalgic look at some of the previously seen locations and planets from the original trilogy, while also offering the players the chance to explore some never-seen events and places. The official description of the game states:
‘Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.’
