It has been a busy week at Bethesda Game Studios with Starfield Direct and the grand launch announcement of what is shaping up to be an incredible space RPG. It also marks a landmark for Xbox as Starfield could be the best game yet on the new console. While Starfield news has been slowly trickling through over the past few years, the last few weeks have revealed some major updates on this most anticipated of RPGs.
Here’s what we know so far about the game.
Starfield news: Launch date, price, and offers
Bethesda had moved the Starfield release date from its original November 2022 date to September 6 this year. As revealed by Bethesda during the gameplay deep dive, three editions of the game are currently available at various major retail outlets starting from an offer price of $69.99 along with some juicy bonuses including early access.
Starfield news: Platform information
Bethesda released information on what platforms the game will be released. Launch on the Xbox and PC platforms have so far been confirmed. Bethesda being under Xbox following the big 2020 acquisition means Starfield is not coming to PS5, or the PS4.

One of the biggest news revealed in recent weeks that fans have been waiting for, is Starfield system requirements. It looks like the game is going to be quite demanding, especially compared to earlier Bethesda titles.

Starfield Direct gave us an in-depth look at the game’s new character creation system that offers much more visual customization options than previous Bethesda RPGs. The whole system looks quite amazing with major updates to the graphics. We also got a thorough walkthrough on Starfield backgrounds and traits.
Starfield game engine
Bethesda gave some major updates on what engine Starfield is running on. Surprisingly enough, it is just an iterated version of their in-house Creation engine used on previous games such as Fallout 76 but with some ‘game-changing’ updates.

Starfield is shaping up to be one of the best Space RPGs and ever and you cannot talk about the genre without mentioning spaceships. Updates on the myriad ships and ship customization options revealed that this is going to be every space fiction fan’s dream game. Star Wars and Star Trek fans also have reason to get excited. The term ‘NASA-punk’ has been floating around, hopefully it becomes a thing.

Starfield is set feature an illustrious cast to voice various characters in the game. Some popular and familiar names have lent their voices to bring this RPG to life.

Starfield despite fast becoming the most anticipated game to be launched this year is a still a Bethesda game and a Todd original at that. So, we are cautiously optimistic about its launch state. And of course, there will be a plethora of gameplay elements that is bound to surprise fans.
Starfield came under some major heat after Bethesda announced an FPS lock for the Xbox Console. It was also revealed that the game will be exclusively a single player RPG with no plans to add co-op/multiplayer.
On the positive side, modders are already hard at work creating a community patch and preparing for the game’s launch. Bethesda also announced that they were switching back to the silent protagonist which was a hallmark of their games. There were some juicy easter eggs as well which also featured the adoring fan from Oblivion as part of a character trait.
