It’s barely been a day since the release of Street Fighter 6 and the popular fighting game has already broken the record for the greatest number of concurrent players on Steam. The first impressions of the title are also coming in, with most Street Fighter 6 reviews getting extremely high scores. GameSpot, IGN, and Steam have all awarded this title 9/10 ratings.
Street Fighter 6 has just SMASHED the All-Time concurrent players of every Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Tekken game on Steam
All-Time Peak
• Street Fighter 6 – 64,000+
• Mortal Kombat 11 – 35,147
• Tekken 7 – 18,966
• Mortal Kombat X – 15,743

Street Fighter 6 becomes the first paid game to amass more than 70 thousand concurrent players
This information comes to us from Benji Sales, who has detailed the record-breaking number of people simultaneously playing Street Fighter 6 on Steam. During day one, over 70 thousand people were concurrently playing the title on Steam. For reference, here are the numbers of concurrent players for some other popular PvP fighting games registered on Steam in the past:
- Mortal Kombat 11 – 35,147
- Tekken 7 – 18,966
- Mortal Kombat X – 15,743
- Street Fighter V- 14,783
Street Fighter 6 has quickly become the fighting game that attracted the highest number of concurrent players, surpassing other popular titles such as Mortal Kombat 11 and Tekken 7 by more than 30 thousand. Street Fighter 6 is also the first ever paid fighting game to reach 70 thousand plus concurrent players on Steam.
Street Fighter 6 has climbed even higher tonight, becoming the first Paid / Non F2P Fighting game EVER to reach 70,000+ Concurrent Players on Steam
By far the biggest launch ever on PC for a paid Fighting game
Looks like this is performing tremendously well for Capcom pic.twitter.com/Ycd8Uaa4iP

It’s also worthwhile to mention that these figures only cover the PC gamers playing Street Fighter 6 using Steam. Combine these with the number of players using PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and this may very well be the most successful fighting game till date. Capcom had a bitter experience with Street Fighter 5 that released in 2016 and failed to meet the initial sales targets set by the developer.
It’s safe to say that Street Fighter 6 has had the best launch of the year. It would be interesting to see if NetherRealm’s upcoming Mortal Kombat 1, releasing on September 19, will be able to surpass such high numbers achieved by SF6.
Street Fighter 6 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
