- Screwdriver: Lets you “package” office furniture and convert it into usable traps, barricades, or reinforcements. This is crucial early on, as most of your defensive setup will rely on whatever furniture is nearby.
Once you have both, you can turn almost any room into a makeshift safe zone. This means from cafeterias to security offices and improve it as you find more resources.
What Makes a Good Base Location
Not every spot in Abiotic Factor is worth turning into a base. A solid location usually has:
- Proximity to food and water (vending machines, kitchens, or refillable sinks)

It’s massive, has bathrooms nearby, and access to water via the aquarium tanks, which you can clean and use for both fishing and drinking. Once cleared of pests, it becomes a fully functional headquarters for late-game crafting and storage.
Hydroplant Apartments
Unlocked much later, this location is both practical and customizable. It offers multiple rooms, refillable sinks, abundant cooking space, and enough space to turn entire sections into storage, crafting rooms, or even fun personal spaces like arcades. By this stage, teleportation options make it easy to reach any resource you need, so this base becomes a true home for endgame survival.
