The You Know My Name mission in Phantom Liberty takes you through a spy adventure of a lifetime. There is a lot of special agent stuff right out of the movies to immerse yourself in while you manage multiple quest objectives. This quest is also a great reminder of how akin the Phantom Liberty expansion is to Dues Ex.
The primary objective of this mission is to find Songbird at the Black Diamond where Hansen is throwing a party. While this may seem like a simple task, handling things associated with Hansen is anything but easy. While this is a secret mission, stealth is optional. So, you can Dues Ex your way out of any situation should the need arise, but it is recommended that you maintain your cover to have an enjoyable experience and avoid having to risk the wrath of Hansen’s entire army.
Without further ado, here is a walkthrough for the You Know My Name mission in Phantom Liberty.

Head down the Tunnels
The first part of the You Know My Name mission in Phantom Liberty involves some underwater espionage. You are tasked with taking a stealthy route into the Black Sapphire to avoid alerting the guards while Reed does some ‘recon’ around the hotel. This, of course, means that it’s time to put on your diving suit and go down a submerged tunnel system underneath the black sapphire.
As you head down the tunnel, you will come across a steel door that can easily be unlocked. As you head through the door, you’ll find that Hansen has already foreseen such an underwater infiltration but his countermeasures seem somewhat inadequate. You can disarm a mine at the far end of the first tunnel and then head left by opening the door of a wrecked van.
As you proceed, you’ll come upon a partially submerged section where you can climb onto a steel grated ledge which will lead you through to the next underwater section. Just follow the giant yellow pipe and you can find another mine disarming which will allow you to proceed through the small opening. This will lead you to a shutter and another partially submerged area where you need to head left underneath the stuck cargo elevator.
Swimming through the cargo wreck underneath the elevator and heading right will lead you to a small passageway which in turn leads to a collapsible ladder. The ladder will lead you to a button that activates the elevator. You can then jump back down and use the elevator platform to gain access to a button above the wrecked van.
The button summons another platform which will allow you to access another tunnel. This tunnel is pretty straightforward and you can use it to reach a warehouse which is guarded. You’ll have to take down a couple of guards at the entrance using a silenced weapon to maintain your cover.
Find and Help Reed
Upon reaching the warehouse in the You Know My Name mission, you can head to a surveillance section where you’ll have to find Reed. You can cycle across the cameras to triangulate his position. He can be found in the fourth camera position at the other entrance. You are now tasked with a mission to unlock the gate to grant Reed and V access to the next area and an elevator that leads to the maintenance level.
Once you have unlocked the gate, you are expected to take the elevator and join Reed. Before you do that it is best to take out the newly arrived guards. Time is of the essence here; if you tarry they will alert other guards of the situation in the warehouse. Suffice it to say that stealth is the best option for this part.
Take out the Sniper and Cover Reed
Your new point of contact is a sniper’s nest overlooking the maintenance area. A sniper has his sights glued on the area scanning for threats. He will not notice your arrival, so you can take him out with ease. Once you have dealt with the sniper, you can take over and jack into the sniper and perform reconnaissance to proceed in the You Know My Name quest in Phantom Liberty.
You have two choices here. You can either go guns blazing and blow your cover or try the stealthy approach and patiently scan for threats. The latter can still easily turn into the former if you aren’t patient and careful enough. Your first task is to find potential threats. This is a tricky part and will test your skills of observation. You need to detect all immediate threats that could put Idris Elba in danger.
Scanning Targets
- Soldiers closest to Reed
- Mine next to Reed
- Any camera on the floor
Once you have completed the scan, you can divert your sights to a container bridge which will be your way to the meeting point. You can then signal Reed to proceed with caution. This next step requires you to be on high alert and call out all threats as they appear.
Identify Immediate Threats
- Oncoming Patrol near Reed’s location. You’ll need to wait a few seconds before the patrol arrives while Reed is still behind cover.
- Open the Gate for Reed. You can follow the power cable from the Gate to zero in on the power source and then destroy it with the sniper.
- Wait for Reed to finish the countdown and shoot down the guard farthest from him while he deals with the closest one.
- Aim further left and target the oncoming patrol on the elevator.
- Aim left from the elevator to find a sniper on the balcony and take him out.
- Use the CCTV system to target the guard blocking Reed’s progress and then switch to sniper mode to take him out.
- Take out the two guards approaching Reed before they spot him.
Once you’re done guiding Reed, you can jack out of the sniper and remove the RASETSU Tech sniper rifle. The new rifle is a great addition to your inventory and can prove useful in similar situations. Head down the container bridge to join Reed by the elevator.
Head to Hansen’s Party
The elevator takes V and Reed to a backroom where you get rid of your tactical attire and switch into something that would befit the party at the Black Sapphire. You are now ready for an evening of pampering. Once within the party hall, Reed offers you a brief rundown of the place and recommends that you make yourself comfortable while keeping your guard up.
In this part of the mission, you are expected to actually explore the entire area and have at least a couple of drinks. This time can be exploited to meet some familiar faces. There are some new characters you get to meet at the party that will be part of upcoming missions. Regardless of what you do with the time you have, exploring the entire party hall including the upper level will trigger the next stage of the quest.
Once Songbird makes contact, she will reveal the plan to steal the neural matrix from Hansen. It involves impersonating the Netrunners. The Netrunners here are twin redheads who hold the access codes to the mainframe that contains the matrix. She recommends that you ‘Klep’ their personalities while engaging them in a game of roulette. Basically you are expected to gather personality intel using Cyberpunk 2077 rules and impersonate the redhead twins.
Play Roulette in You Know My Name
Before heading to the game of roulette, you are expected to buy 80,000 eddies worth of chips from the cashier. Given how this game will turn out (spoiler inbound), it is recommended that you buy the maximum possible 100,000 eddies worth of chips. This also ensures that you have enough chips left even if you lose a bet or two.
As you head to the roulette table, Alex explains the rules: you’re not here to have fun, so just place simple bets. You’re safe going for either black or red. This section of the mission has two choices to make each round. The first, of course, is the bet itself which is between black and red. The outcome of each bet seems to be random and has no impact on the mission.
The second part of the roulette game is engaging the twins in conversation. The more talkative of the Netrunners, Aurore is the one with whom you’ll be conversing most of the time which will allow you to scan the other one.
There are no consequences for the dialogue either, at least from our playthroughs. The only real difference is the response received from either of the twins which again have no consequence on future mission given the outcome of this one. The idea here is to just keep the Netrunners engaged while you klep their personalities in You Know My Name.
Regardless of the outcome of the bets or dialogue, as the game ends, you are interrupted quite rudely by Mr. D-town himself, Kurt Hansen.
Deal with Hansen and exit the Black Sapphire
Kurt Hansen interrupts your conversation with the Netrunners, to reveal a plot twist in the You Know My Name mission in Phantom Liberty: Reed has blown his cover. Maybe Idris Elba isn’t the best choice to go on spy missions in Phantom Liberty after all.
However, Hansen assumes that you are there to rescue Songbird and expresses his disregard for the idea and for the existence of FIA. But since the leader of Dogtown is apparently in a generous mood, for public reasons he lets V and Reed go without any conflict.
You are gently escorted out of the Black Sapphire by the Guards who despise the idea of doing so and express it in a manner befitting Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty.
While the mission may not have gone exactly as planned you now have what you need to proceed. As for Hansen, he now knows your name.
