The upcoming Soulslike game by CI Games, Lords of the Fallen, is set for its release and from what’s visible, the game will support Nvidia DLSS 3 Frame Generation as well as AMD FSR 3.0 at launch.

Now, according to the screenshot, the game will support AMD Fidelity FX Super Resolution 3 (aka FSR3) to ‘generate high resolution frames at fast frame rates‘. Meanwhile, the Super Resolution feature from NVIDIA works by ‘rendering fewer pixels and using AI to output high resolution frames‘ usually boosting the frame rates by a noticeable margin.
What Does FSR 3 And DLSS 3 Do?
You can think of this two methods as across-the-board framerate boosting technologies, although they function quite differently under the hood.
FSR from AMD works on graphics cards from all manufacturers, which means users on Intel and Nvidia cards too can potentially utilize this setting. Lords of the Fallen will be one of the first titles to utilize the third iteration of FSR, which promises to be a worthy contender to its Nvidia and Intel counterparts.
DLSS, on the other hand, makes use of the Tensor cores of modern Nvidia GPUs. Therefore, this AI-powered supersampling technology is only available to users wielding Nvidia RTX 2xxx series and newer GPUs. Notably, the frame generation part is available only to RTX 4xxx series owners.
Lord Of The Fallen’s Other Technological Features
Apart from implementing the latest iterations of DLSS and FSR, Lords of the Fallen uses the latest generation of Unreal Engine 5, which is a game changer. Lords of the Fallen will use the new global illumination system – Lumen, which is far superior to the older methods.
Not only this, the game is integrated with UE5’s Chaos Physics, and hence we will see a major difference when it comes to the simulation of characters and their clothing.
Lord of the Fallen is set for its imminent release on October 13. If you want to know more about the Soulslike elements of the game, take a look at our explainer about Lords of the Fallen’s Dark Souls connection.
