Game cancelation by Sony seems to have caused significant layoffs in Final Strike Games
Final Strike Games is known for developing an online mobile battle royale game, Rocket Arena. The company is also responsible for providing live services for Fortnite. It is unclear whether the layoffs are a direct result of the new game in development being axed by Sony.
The developer’s website is still displaying the development of a new IP AAA PVP shooter title for both consoles and PC. However, the layoffs are less likely to be a rumor, as evident by some posts of ex-Final Strike Games developers reaching out on LinkedIn to disclose loss of job and looking for new jobs.

This isn’t the first time Sony has canceled a game mid-development. Industry experts believe that Sony plays a big part in the development process, and if the executives do not feel a title has achieved certain benchmarks in specific timelines of development, they strike out the publishing deal and pull out their resources. Some other titles axed by Sony mid-development include Tekken X Street Fighter, Ghost Recon Frontline, and Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun.
