A new financial report released today by Remedy Entertainment revealed interesting details about Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake.
Rockstar Games, publisher of the original Max Payne games and owner of the IP, is fully funding the entire remake project. The report mentions:
“Max Payne 1&2 remake is going to be a major new game with great potential, enabled by a similar development budget as Alan Wake 2.”
Alan Wake 2 is said to be made on a budget of around $75 million, and that game looks visually stunning. Since Remedy will most likely use its own Northlight game engine to develop the Max Payne remakes, this budget should be more than enough to deliver the same level of quality as its most recent release.
The report also says that the remake project “made considerable progress throughout the year” and will enter the next stage of development in the coming months. While the company suffered a revenue drop by about 22%, the outlook for the coming year seems to be positive.
Remedy Entertainment is remaking Max Payne 1 & 2 as a single title. The studio is simultaneously working on Control 2 as well as a Control spin-off currently codenamed Condor.
