UPDATE: Bethesda has announced the Starfield release date in their special event, Starfield Direct.
Starfield is now set to release in September 2023, with Bethesda offering players an official showcase for the game on June 11, 2023. According to the Xbox blog, this live stream, scheduled right after the Xbox showcase, will share loads of new gameplay footage and interviews with developers and designers.
Ever since Bethesda announced they are going to work on a new action role-playing game in 2018, fans have been excited to see what the famed developer of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series will offer in its first space-based action-adventure role-playing game.
The developer had initially set a November 2022 release date, which was delayed as announced by the company in May 2022. This delay was justified by the developers stating they want their users to have access to only the best and fully polished gameplay experience and that they were not satisfied with the then-version of the game. At the time, Bethesda had announced that gamers can expect Starfield to come out in early 2023, which was delayed again in March 2023.
Bethesda revealed an official launch date announcement trailer in March 2023, which provided players with information about the release date, as well as several other exciting details that Starfield will feature. These include the game’s visual style that looks pretty close to the recent Fallout games, details about the types of enemies players can expect to face off against, and some hints about the gear customization and upgradation.
Bethesda has already done an expansive gameplay reveal for Starfield, stating that this is going to be their most ambitious title. This game will feature a brand-new gaming universe from Bethesda in over 25 years, which is much needed after the failure of Redfall. And judging from the Elder Scroll series, these guys surely know how to build a strong and visually striking universe with a vast number of in-game communities, a strong sense of narratives, and the inclusion of engaging lore.
In this massive ARPG, players will be able to customize their characters, space crafts, and weapon systems. The initial reveal trailers and several additional images showcased by Bethesda also shed light on what the character-building would involve, including various character stats, traits, skills, and occupations. There are also some similarities between the upcoming Starfield and Bethesda’s champion, Elder Scrolls. The June 11 live stream is expected to offer more information about meta-games and the world of Starfield.
