In a free-wheeling interview with Sony, Neil Druckmann, reflected on the potential that AI had to create impact, stating that AI, coupled with the ability to do motion capture from home can reduce costs and technical hurdles which allowed game developers to push boundaries of story-telling in games. However, he also cautioned on the ethical issues that using AI for content creation that needed to be addressed.
The creative head behind Last Of Us and Uncharted also shared his excitement on the new project that the studio is working on in the interview with Sony – which, in his own words, ‘is perhaps the most thrilling yet’. He further went on to add, ‘I’m eager to see how this new game resonates, especially following the success of The Last of Us, as it could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming.’ The success of the TV adaptation of The Last Of Us, as per him, has put the focus on the rich, immersive experience that gaming offers and has increased appreciation for the fact that gaming transcends all age groups.
