For a long time, the Polish horror studio Bloober Team worked under a cloud of doubt from skeptical fans and critical horror enthusiasts. Before their remake of Silent Hill 2 came out, the developers faced constant scrutiny and disbelief. Many people doubted they could handle such a beloved game, arguing that their previous projects didn’t prove they could recreate the magic of one of the genre’s most legendary titles.
When the remake launched, Bloober Team achieved a major victory. The positive response completely changed how people saw them. Critics praised their work, and players around the world celebrated their success. Almost overnight, Bloober Team went from being a studio constantly doubted to one respected in the horror gaming community.
Bloober Team hopes their next game will be just as good

Their success even earned them strong support from Konami, leading to approval for a remake of Silent Hill 1—a clear sign of trust in their talent and vision. This new credibility has deeply boosted the studio’s confidence. The feeling of being underdogs, always fighting to prove themselves, is gone. Now, they approach new projects with self-assurance, knowing they can surpass expectations and deliver high-quality games.
Bloober Team’s next game, Cronos: The New Dawn, shows this change in perception. They are no longer defined by negative labels like “the studio that made that Silent Hill 2 remake.” Instead, they are now known as “the studio that made the Silent Hill 2 remake”—a title they wear with pride.

Cronos game director Jacek Zięba told PC Gamer, “We are starting to stop feeling like underdogs all the time after Silent Hill. The Silent Hill era wasn’t so easy in the eyes of the public. There were a lot of voices: ‘Oh no, Bloober is doing this. They will destroy that.’ It was very tough for the whole company to stick to our guns and put all our heart into that thing, even if most people don’t want it. We proved people wrong, so that’s nice.’
Cronos: The New Dawn is a different kind of survival horror. The team has compared it to Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space, admitting they were subconsciously influenced by those games. The project also reflects the recent COVID era. The developers warn that gameplay will be tough, advising players to be cautious in fights against large, armored enemies. They especially warn players not to let enemies merge, or they will suffer the consequences.
Cronos isn’t a guaranteed win

Still, Cronos also represents a new test for the studio. The success of Silent Hill 2 has raised expectations, putting more pressure on Bloober Team to deliver another outstanding game. They know they’re being watched closely and are determined to put their hearts into their work, aiming for excellence in every detail.
The developers stress that they are always looking to improve and grow with each new project. Every game teaches them something new, shaping their methods and pushing them to innovate. Even after the praise for Silent Hill 2, they aren’t getting comfortable. Instead, they keep refining their skills and exploring fresh creative ideas. They want to prove they can offer players diverse gaming experiences.
Cronos: The New Dawn is set to release later this year. The future looks promising for Bloober Team, a studio that has finally broken free from the “Silent Hill” curse and is ready to leave a lasting mark on the horror genre.
