Mualani is a powerful 5-star Hydro DPS unit in Genshin Impact and is widely regarded as one of the strongest units in the game. She is often compared to Neuvillette in terms of damage output, though their playstyles are a bit different. Mualani primarily relies on the Nightsoul mechanic, which is specific to Natlan characters.
As such, Mualani performs best when you pair her with characters who also belong to Natlan. This helps her maintain the Nightsoul stacks a lot easier. However, if you don’t have a second Natlan character, you can still make Mualani work, as her damage output and flexibility make her a great asset to any team.
Mualani Premium Team in Genshin Impact
Mualani’s Premium team comprises Mavuika, Xilonen, and Furina, which forms a really powerful Vaporize team and can pretty much clear all endgame content. Similar to Hysilens Premium Team in Honkai Star Rail, you will need to make sure that you have the signature weapons of all the characters in Mualani’s Premium Team for optimal damage output. In this team, Mualani functions as a nuke who will jump in and deal a lot of damage with her ultimate. The rest of the team will work towards setting up Mualani’s damage with Furina and Mavuika being at the core of it. You will start by activating Furina’s ultimate ability, which will buff Mualani’s damage due to the HP leech.
Xilonen will reduce the enemy’s Pyro and Hydro DEF and will also heal the characters to balance out the HP leech from Furina. Finally, you can bring in Mavuika to apply Pyro and use her nuke ability to deal damage. Once all three characters have used their abilities, bring in Mualani, and you’ll be able to deal massive damage to the enemy by triggering Vaporize.
Mualani General Team in Genshin Impact
Mualani’s general team consists of Mavuika, Xiangling, and Xilonen. In terms of investment, this team is also on par with the Premium team. Even though Xiangling is a free character, you’ll need her at Constellation six and also give her a powerful 5-star Polearm for high damage. The general team functions a little differently when compared to the premium team. The general team misses the buffs from Furina, but what you receive is the constant Pyro application from Xiangling. When you combine this with Mavuika, it makes Mualani’s ultimate even stronger since it’s easier to proc Vaporize in the general team.
Xilonen will function as the healer, but she is also the primary buffer for the general team. She will reduce the Pyro and Hydro resistance of all enemies, which helps out Xiangling, Mavuika, and Mualani. Additionally, the heals ensure that the entire team is alive in high difficulty content.
Playing the general team is also very simple, as you will simply have to trigger everyone’s skill and ultimate, and you’re done. Start with Xilonen by using her skill and ultimate to reduce the enemy’s DEF and trigger healing. Switch to Xiangling and use her ultimate ability, followed by Mavuika’s skill and ultimate. Finally, bring on Mualani and deal high damage to enemies, until you switch back to Xilonen once again.
Mualani’s F2P Team in Genshin Impact
Mualani has decent options when it comes to F2P options, unlike Ineffa’s best F2P team, where she really struggles with options. The best characters to pair alongside Mualani in her F2P team include Xiangling, Xingqiu, and Kachina. The characters and the roles they play in the team have been listed in the following table.

In this team, Mualani will have to do a lot of hard carrying, though Xiangling and Xingqiu will provide quite a bit of support. Kachina’s presence in the team is solely to provide some additional damage, though she doesn’t really fit well. She can jump into the battlefield and deal some damage, and then switch out.
Xingqiu will provide Hydro application, and he also protects allies from taking damage. He can also provide heals, though they aren’t as effective. Xiangling helps with damage and heavy Pyro application, though she will be at Constellation zero on account of being F2P.
Mualani will jump in right after Xiangling and use her ultimate to deal as much damage as possible. She will have to stay on the field for a while and deal some additional damage to make up for the lack of powerful 5-star units. However, if you build all the characters properly, they will help you to clear most of the content apart from the Spiral Abyss Floor 12 in Genshin Impact.
