One of the small but unforgettable moments in Destiny: Rising comes when players realize they can actually Find and Pet The Cat. It’s a little touch in a game that’s otherwise packed with quests, combat, and exploration, but for many players, hunting down the cat has become just as satisfying as unlocking a shiny weapon or rare cosmetic.
The game doesn’t go out of its way to highlight this feature, so unless you know exactly where to look. You might miss it altogether, but with Destiny: Rising being canon in the series, the appearance system is more important than it first seems.
Where to Find and Pet The Cat in Destiny: Rising

The first cat you can interact with is tucked away in Haven, right in front of the Archives building. The fastest way there is to teleport into the Throne Room, then head north until you reach the Archives. By the statue that marks the entrance, you’ll spot the cat waiting, calm, quiet, and ready for interaction.
That said, the Archives cat isn’t the only one you’ll come across. Cats are scattered around Haven and even beyond. There’s one lounging in the Bazaar, another sitting on the counter inside the Bad Old Time bar, and one more right at the entrance to Lord Radegast’s Throne Room. Each encounter feels unique because the cats aren’t just cosmetic they actually respond to how you treat them.
Cat preferences in Destiny Rising
Every cat you meet has a favourite type of fish. Some prefer Blue Fish, others lean toward Yellow Fish, and a few only accept Red Fish. The trick is figuring out which species of fish link to these colours. Once you test and learn their preferences, you can start earning Angling Tokens by feeding them correctly.
There’s a choice involved too. You can either hand over your catch to Pandora for other rewards or keep them aside to build trust with the cats. It’s a small but clever layer of decision-making, so do you focus on progression.
How to Pet The Cat in Destiny Rising

Once you find a cat, the interaction is simple. Walk up, and the option to press the “Pet” button appears. This isn’t just for fun, it’s actually tied into the New Light Challenges Event, so petting the cat has a functional side beyond the warm fuzzy feeling.
Feeding works the same way as petting in Destiny Rising. Interact with the cat and select from the fish you’ve caught while out fishing. If you’ve matched the right fish type to the cat’s preference, you’ll build a bond and grab some rewards in the process. It’s a straightforward system but rewarding enough to make you want to keep extra fish in your inventory just for these encounters.
