Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is the return of the reimagined version of the first chapter of the beloved JRPG by Nihon Falcom. It features redefined graphics and combat, which gives players a new way of playing the game, thereby creating new experiences. Unlike other remakes, this game runs very well on PC, primarily because it doesn’t feature any anti-cheat system like Denuvo, similar to Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
As part of the game, you can undertake multiple activities, one of which includes fishing. Now, fishing isn’t as massive in the 1st Chapter, and you won’t find too much to do. However, there are quite a few fish you can catch, and depending on how you pull the hook, you’ll receive different rewards.
Every Fishing Choice And Rewards In Trails In the Sky 1st Chapter

You don’t have many fishing choices during the game, but as you reach the end, you’ll come across a region named Valleria. In this region, you’ll have the choice to use certain baits and make certain choices. Depending on the choices, you’ll get different rewards, which can include fish or scrap. However, you must understand that fishing isn’t mandatory as it’s not a quest, unlike learning how to Manual in Skate.
It’s also important to understand that you get to fish only a total of 10 times. As such, you should try to get all the possible rewards. Since it’s the end of the game, it won’t amount to much, but it’s still worth it if you’re a completionist. There are a total of three areas in the region where you can fish, and the following few sections cover all the necessary information.
Fishing Choices And Rewards In West, Near The Pier
This is the first area in Valleria where you get to fish. All you need to do is stand near the pier, put on the bait, and throw the hook. Once done, just wait for the bite and make the choices to get the necessary rewards.
Bait | Choices | Rewards |
---|---|---|
Lure | Pull out in one movement | Silver Smelt |
Lure | Wait just a little bit | Liberl Carp |
Lure | Go slow to tire it out | Samona |
Live Bait | Pull out in one movement | Silver Smelt |
Live Bait | Wait just a little bit | Orosho |
Live Bait | Go slow to tire it out | Liberl Carp |
Fly Fishing | Pull out in one movement | Silver Smelt |
Fly Fishing | Wait just a little bit | Rainbow |
Fly Fishing | Go slow to tire it out | Silver Smelt |
The most important reward in this region is the Samona, as you don’t get it from any of the other areas. In fact, Orosho is another item that you don’t get as much of either. As such, it’s important you fish in this area first to get these items.
Fishing Choices And Rewards In South, Near The Sun’s Reflection
If you go to the South of the Valleria Shore, you will get your second fishing location. The process of fishing isn’t different, but you’ll find some new items that weren’t available in the previous area. The choices and rewards have been listed in the following table.
Bait | Choices | Rewards |
---|---|---|
Lure | Pull out in one movement | Leaky Boots |
Lure | Wait just a little bit | Liberl Carp |
Lure | Go slow to tire it out | Leaky Boots |
Live Bait | Pull out in one movement | Silver Smelt |
Live Bait | Wait just a little bit | Silver Smelt |
Live Bait | Go slow to tire it out | Leaky Boots |
Fly Fishing | Pull out in one movement | Silver Smelt |
Fly Fishing | Wait just a little bit | Leaky Boots |
Fly Fishing | Go slow to tire it out | Leaky Boots |
One of the key items you receive here is the Leaky Boots, which you get in abundance in this area. It is not a good piece of armor by any means, but you can only get it through fishing, so as a completionist, you should look to collect it from here.
Fishing Choices And Rewards In East, In The Shadow Of The Tree
This is the final area where you can fish, though the rewards here aren’t really exclusive by any means. You get almost similar rewards as the other regions, but it’s still worth checking the area out. The choices and the rewards for the various baits have been listed in the following table.
Lure | Pull it out in one movement | Liberl Carp |
Lure | Wait just a little bit | Rainbow |
Lure | Go slow to tire it out | Silver Smelt |
Live Bait | Pull it out in one movement | Silver Smelt |
Live Bait | Wait just a little bit | Rainbow |
Live Bait | Go slow to tire it out | Liberl Carp |
Fly Fishing | Pull it out in one movement | Leaky Boots |
Fly Fishing | Wait just a little bit | Rainbow |
Fly Fishing | Go slow to tire it out | Orosho |
The key reward that you get the most here is Rainbow, which is the most abundant one out of all the areas. You also get the second Orosho from here, which can only be obtained from the first area. Finally, you get one more Leaky Boots from this area, though you should have those in abundance from the previous area in Trails in the Sky First Chapter.
