Weeks after the reveal of Fontaine, the upcoming region in Genshin Impact, a new leak has surfaced that features an alleged new character coming to the expansion. A popular data miner, Hoyoverse_Leak has tweeted an image of a brand-new NPC that’s supposed to be part of Fontaine’s naval fleet. Along with the image, they also claim that the developer HoYoverse has designed more than 5 NPC models for the Fontaine navy.

HoYoverse has been releasing one new region per year ever since Genshin Impact’s release in 2020. The last region that was made explorable for the players was Sumeru, which was released in August of 2022. The new region, Fontaine, received a short teaser trailer in this year’s Genshin Impact special event live stream.
Fontaine is a hydro nation, with water as its base element. This upcoming region is supposed to be filled with massive amounts of water bodies, such as lakes, rivers, and oceans, which would line up perfectly with the developer designing an extensive cast of characters for its navy.
Ever since the new leak surfaced, gamers have been speculating about this new, mysterious character and what role she might play in the upcoming story expansion. There has been a lot of debate regarding her powers, with some players hoping for a new Geo element user, while others predicting that she might possess Electro powers, similar to Beidou, the captain of a naval fleet in Liyue harbor. The character’s blonde hair and uniform might point towards her Geo capabilities, however, nothing can be said for sure until the region is unlocked and players can interact with her in the game.
There is no official release date for Genshin Impact’s Fontaine update. Judging by past trends, its highly possible that the expansion will drop in mid-August.
