Bungo Stray Dogs is known for several strong and well-fleshed out characters. While many viewers of Kafka Asagiri’s series turn out to be Dazai kinnies, there is another character who is equally as popular and lovable as Dazai. The said character is considered the “shorter half” of Sokoku, or Double Black, by Dazai, who also calls him ‘slug’ or ‘petit mafia.’
Chuuya Nakahara may be known by several names, but the Port Mafia member is incredibly powerful and well-respected among his peers. As the anime community celebrates his birthday today, i.e., April 29, this makes it a perfect excuse to cite other gravity manipulators who are as strong as Chuuya. From characters like Genshi Tenson (Soul Hunter) to Kaguya Otsutsuki and Nagato/Pain (Naruto), the anime world has a few renowned gravity manipulators. As such, this article will feature four such powerful users of gravity like Chuuya.
Popular characters from recent anime series who can control gravity like Bungo Stray Dogs’ Chuuya Nakahara

Chuuya’s ability in the series is called Upon the Tainted Sorrow, which allows him to use gravity as he deems fit. This includes changing the mass of his body, floating, and moving at alarming high speed to attack his opponents with a force that is considered destructive.
Apart from using his gravity powers for offensive purposes, Chuuya is also the host of Arahabaki, the ancient God of Calamity. Thus, his ability has a pure form called Corruption, which he can activate through a specific chant. Although the power is uncontrollable and makes him lose his rationality, Chuuya can use it to control the gravitons in his surroundings, shoot energy balls of compressed gravity (much like black holes), and increase his body density to crush tanks or obliterate large buildings with bare hands. The only way to nullify the Corruption state is through No Longer Human, which Dazai possesses. In anime, two notable moments when Chuuya used Corruption was during his fight with Lovecraft in Bungo Stray Dogs season 2 and against the dragon in Dead Apple.
Ochaco Uraraka (My Hero Academia)
Ochaco’s quirk in My Hero Academia is called Zero Gravity. By using this ability, she can nullify the gravity from anything solid, whether be it living or non-living, upon contact. As such, she can either make them weightless or floating. Unlike Chuuya’s abilities, her Quirk is well-suited for restraining, as she can easily keep her targets afloat and release them at will. If her Quirk faces a weight exceeding three tonnes or if she keeps herself afloat, she ends up feeling nauseous. However, she later trains herself to overcome her drawbacks.
While it may seem that her Quirk does not have an offensive quality, the brilliance of her ability is shown when she is able to turn an entire ravaged area to her advantage, which was seen in her fight against Bakugo. Here, she floated an entire field full of rubbles and released them all at once, creating what was known as Meteor Storm. A more stronger version of this is called Meteor Fafrotskies, while the close-ranged version is called Zero Satellites.
Kagura Mikazuchi (Fairytail)
A master swordsmanship specialist, Kagura is well-known for her Gravity Magic. While much about her power remains unexplored in Fairytail, it can be assumed that she is highly adept in using this magic. During the Grand Magic Games arc, she was easily able to cancel the effects of Sabertooth Guild’s Yukino’s Celestial Spirit magic.
Kagura is also presumed to use gravity to her advantage by changing the density or mass of her body. While this was not explicitly shown through her, her guildmate Risley Law, who can change her body proportions at will, is said to have been taught the form by Kagura herself. Aside from that, she also uses Gravity Magic: Earth to increase her opponent’s gravity to force them downward.
Admiral Fujitora (One Piece)
Issho, aka Fujitora, is one of the admirals of the Marines in One Piece. While he showcases incredible strength and endurance on the battlefield, it is his Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, Zushi Zushi no Mi, that enables him to manipulate gravitational forces over a wide expanse of land, including entire islands. Moreover, he can even channel the power through his sword.
Like the previously mentioned entries, Fujitora can also increase the gravity around his targets to restrict mobility. With his tremendous power, he can create large crates with immense pressure, change the direction of gravity at will to use horizontal attacks with impressive outward force. He can also use the gravity power for defensive purposes, creating fields to reverse gravity to avoid incoming attacks. Moreover, he can even levitate heavy objects, such as battleships, or meteorites (that he summons from outer space) to strike down his enemies.
Dante Zogratis (Black Clover)
Aside from being a proficient user of Body Magic, Black Clover antagonist Dante Zogratis can also use Gravity Magic extremely well. As such, like Admiral Fujitora, Dante can control the gravitons surrounding him, weakening or increasing them at will to his advantage. By doing this, he can force his target on the ground with immense force or slam heavy objects on them. Like Chhuya, who uses gravity-induced kicks, Dante can also use the same but with punches to retaliate against his opponents.
One given quality of gravity is levitation, which Dante can be seen using quite often. The other asset of Gravity Magic is changing the mass, proportion, pressure of his environment or opponents. As a result, Dante can easily immobilize his targets, keep them afloat, or change and deform the shape of a non-living object to attack his enemies at full force. Moreover, with an open gimoire, the antagonist can create small black holes to destroy anything in short range. This technique is called Gravity Singularity, which is powerful enough to pierce through mountains quickly. The power also enables Dante to warp spacetime, giving him the leverage to deflect incoming attacks by bending or cutting through them.
