Released on May 10, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 222 spoilers and raw scans treated fans to relatively calm events than the ones anticipated in the previous chapter. With the chapter acknowledging Yuji Itadori’s present strength in the manga, the filler-like instalment focused on characters like Kenjaku, Gojo, and some of the students from Jujutsu High.
The previous chapter saw Gojo being unsealed from the Prison Realm and appearing in front of Kenjaku to fight him. However, it was intercepted by Sukuna, who is currently in possession of Megumi’s body. With Gojo left to process the many changes that happened during his absence with indifference, the chapter ended with Gojo declaring December 24 (Suguru Geto’s birthday) as the day he will fight Kenjaku.
Despite not showing anything important, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 222 throws light on certain characters and their relationship with others

Titled Omen, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 222 returned after a two-week break. The instalment starts with Uraume apologizing to Sukuna for not being able to find the last finger for the latter to consume. As Sukuna eats the four fingers that were found, he remarks that Gojo might have hidden the last finger so as to save Yuji, who cannot be executed as a threat by the Jujutsu higher-ups since he didn’t consume all the fingers. However, the King of Curses says that he has a solution to make up for the lack of the final finger, i.e., the mummified body of his past self that was retrieved by Tengen and Kenjaku. In the next panel, he is shown to be consuming the mummified head.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 222 then briefly focuses on Kenjaku, who is told by Kogane that within the span of 19 days since the Culling Game commenced, approximately 61 players have been killed. The chapter once again changes perspectives, but this time on Gojo. As he is informed about fellow sorcerer Nanami Kento’s death, he indifferently remarks that he is glad Ijichi made it out alive.

On the other side, in a momentary comic relief, it is shown that Mei Mei makes a large sum of money through selling tickets for the betting pool on Gojo vs. Sukuna battle. The chapter then shows Yuji overpowering his trainer Atsuya Kusakabe, following which Inumaki and Yuta are seen together in a different scene. Here, in a caring gesture, Yuta informs the latter that he didn’t tell Yuji about Inumaki’s missing arm since the pink-haired sorcerer may end up blaming himself for something that was not under his control. To this, Inumaki agrees and chooses to go forward with Yuta’s decision.
After a brief time-skip, the day of the battle, i.e., December 24, finally arrives. Kenjaku decides to kill all the players who are still participating in the Culling Game. He then hypothesizes that if Gojo loses in his fight against the King of Curses, that would mean the remaining sorcerers from Jujutsu High will try to eliminate Sukuna, who would be worn out or injured after a fierce battle with Gojo. This leaves an opening for Kenjaku to carry forward with his plan since the focus would entirely be on the King of Curses.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 222 changes once again for the last time. Here, the students of Jujutsu High seem to be waiting for Gojo to arrive, who comes with Utahime and Gakuganji on his side. After Yuji requests Gojo to deactivate his Infinity because he wants to give his mentor good luck by patting him, the latter obliges and is encouraged by the present students for his upcoming battle with Sukuna. Yuta then promises to pitch in the fight if he thinks that the battle becomes too much for the Six Eyes user. The chapter ends with a focus on Sukuna’s face, implying that the battle between him and Gojo is about to commence.
