One of the best aspects about Blue Lock and its storytelling style is the return of old and defeated opponents as potent forces in their own right, such that every side character feels like the protagonist with his own individual ego. Recently, one of these characters showed his grit and surpassed all fandom expectations as per the spoilers of Blue Lock Chapter 217 and stole the show despite being in a single spread.
As per this new chapter, fans saw Isagi Yoichi come up against his long-time rival Barou Shoei. Barou’s performance and coming up with a strategy to deal with Ubers. He then succeeded in blocking their counterattack, but his advancement was halted at that point. The character halting his advancement was none other than an old adversary who had recently received less of the spotlight but with this new development, things are going to change.

Fans saw a flashback in the previous chapter of Barou’s acceptance of working with Marc Snuffy. Barou’s stealthy goal was demonstrated again after the master striker was spotted telling him to have a predator’s eye for a goal and only shoot when the time is right. This is titled “Predator Eye”.
The chapter had people startled at how Bastard Munchen keeper Gagamaru was unable to react in time to block Barou’s shot. He pushed Isagi while the latter was still savouring his accomplishment. Isagi then made an effort to evaluate Barou and Ubers’ playing style.
Following Snuffy’s ideology, the entire team of Ubers was interlaced with one another, which is unachievable with insufficient training. Gagamaru wasn’t able to budge an inch as a result of Shoei Barou’s shot. Isagi deduced that Barou had acquired “Predator Eye,” which allowed him to maintain sight of the custodian and shot only when he detected an opportunity.

Kaiser urged Ness to draw Lorenzo to himself before the match was set to resume because that would be a tremendous aid to him. Isagi had not yet developed a strategy, but he reminded Kurona and Yukimiya of Noa’s statement that winning against Ubers required winning individual duels.
Bastard Munchen then resumed the match as Ness and Kaiser tried to stop Lorenzo. They faced him in a 2-on-1 matchup and used a one-two lofted pass to go by Lorenzo. Just as Kaiser was about to receive the ball, Aryu Jyubei blocked the pass and headed it back up-field. Although Ness was in line to receive the ball, Lorenzo obstructed him.
Isagi intercepted the ball with his meta-vision when everyone began to worry about Ubers’ comeback because he appeared to have figured out how to halt Ubers. Ikki Niko suddenly materialised and knocked the ball away from Isagi at that precise moment. Niko mentioned how his eyes were similar to Isagi’s as Isagi was attempting to comprehend the new circumstances, giving the impression that Niko also had meta-vision.
What does Niko’s vision mean?

Niko had always shown himself to be a powerful contender throughout Blue Lock from his first showcase as a striker to his realization of his own particular ego, that manifested in the form of a defender. His having meta-vision comes as no surprise to fans who had always wanted to see more of Niko, who had made it on to important matches but never really received the limelight.
Here too, it seems like Niko is voluntarily relegating himself to the position of a side character that exists to complement Barou’s protagonist, at least till he revealed his meta-vision. Niko’s scope of vision and his abilities as a defender instantly make sense in the light of his having a meta-vision because he seems to occupy a role in the story that is similar to that of Ashito in AoAshi.
Do you think Niko deserves meta-vision or do you think he is way too underrated of a character? What about his future in the match against Ubers and the story in itself? Let us know down below!
