It has been almost two weeks since Baldur’s Gate 3‘s launch. The game has gotten high praise from almost everyone and it has already given gamers countless hours of engaging gameplay. Unfortunately, it is just those on PC that have so far been able to relish this marvelous RPG. For PS5 users though, it’s a gruelling wait with the launch set on September 6.
At this point, most of you will be wondering about Baldur’s Gate 3 crossplay and cross-platform options. Both are crucial as you can enjoy the game with friends across platforms and port your own saves if you juggle your game time between PC and PS5.
Here’s what we know so far.
Can you crossplay in Baldur’s Gate 3?
Unfortunately, Larian Studios has not made crossplay between the PS5 console and PC possible at this point in time. So, there will be no alliances formed across platforms.
However, Baldur’s Gate 3 supports crossplay between both Mac and PC users. That means players using either of these platforms can band up to conquer the game.
Furthermore, Larian Studios has also made crossplay available across both GoG and Steam, so users of either storefront can venture together in their playthroughs.
Another bit of good news is the fact that Larian Studios hasn’t exactly ruled out the possibility of crossplay between the Mac, PC, and PS5 platforms. So, there is still a chance that a more comprehensive crossplay could be added to Baldur’s Gate 3 in the future. The PS5 launch next month could reveal more details about it.
Does Baldur’s Gate 3 support cross platform play?
Since early access, Larian Studios have been clear about this bit of information. Yes, Baldur’s Gate does support cross platform play. So, those of you that have been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC can access your saves on PS5 upon release. Your Larian account will provide access to all your saves from PC on PS5 and vice-versa. This also applies to Mac users as well who are already playing the game.
This is also a great way to export all your valuable loot from the limited-time Baldur’s Gate 3 Twitch drops campaign which ends on August 17, which is long before the PS5 launch. So, let this be a reminder for those of you that haven’t bought the game already to create a Larian account before the Twitch benefits expire.
