Gameplay
The in-depth look at EA Sports UFC 5 showcases significant upgrades in the visuals department that bring the game to life. One standout improvement is the introduction of dynamic lighting, a game-changer that adds a new dimension of realism by accurately representing how light impacts the appearance of fighters and the environment.
There’s a lot in store, including new attack options, smoother submissions with quicker animations, improved hit reactions, and an expanded grappling system to keep the action intense.
The game also features the Fight Week mode, which connects players to real UFC events and offers diverse challenges and content to engage with.

As you play, you’ll earn in-game currency, customize player profiles, gather cool vanity items, and even unlock special ‘alter egos‘. Accomplishing profile tasks also nets you XP, helping you level up and enhance your punch card’s earning potential.
A notable addition to the game is the realistic strand hair feature, which might seem small but significantly contributes to the authenticity of the fighters. Their hair moves and behaves just as it would in real life during intense matches, enhancing the immersion.
Additionally, the introduction of new cloth animations takes the visual fidelity a step further. The attention to detail ensures that the clothing worn by fighters moves naturally, adding yet another layer of realism and immersion to the gameplay.
What’s Different From UFC 4?
EA Sports UFC 5 brings a definitive upgrade to the series with the Real Impact System, promising to deliver more realistic damage progression throughout the fight. With over 64,000 potential facial damage combinations and improved physics, the impacts and visuals are incredibly lifelike.
The addition of the face animation tool and advanced body sculpting further enhance fighter likenesses, promising to make this entry a standout in the franchise.

In UFC 5, alongside the Real Impact System, you’ll experience:
- Cinematic K.O. Replay: You’ll get to relive fight-ending moments in slow motion, featuring intensified visuals and dramatic angles for a true UFC highlight experience.
- Doctor’s Checks and Stoppages: Injuries will prompt ringside doctor inspections, adding strategic depth as players must adapt and protect against potential stoppages.
- New Strikes and Hit Reactions: Enhanced strike animations and realistic hit reactions will bring the intensity of the fight to life, offering a deeper level of immersion.
- Seamless Submissions: Streamlined grappling mechanics eliminate mini-games and introduce smoother transitions for a more authentic ground-game experience.
- Fight Week and Alter Egos: You will be able to engage with live events through Fight Week and make picks tied to real UFC events. Alter Egos present unique versions of top fighters, reflecting their career-defining moments and distinct abilities.
