The Explore the Horizon update for Forza Horizon 5 introduces exciting new features and content for players to enjoy. This update enhances Photo Mode, introduces overlanding modifications, adds new props to EventLab, and includes Pathfinder Challenges.
Forza Horizon 5: Explore the Horizon update is available for download on Xbox, Windows, and Steam starting May 23, 2023. The series content will be available from May 25 to June 22.
Forza Horizon 5: New Photo Mode and props
Upgraded Photo Mode
Players can now better capture incredible moments with the upgraded Photo Mode cameras provided by the Horizon Festival organizers. The new Photo Mode features include time of day changes, weather changes, wheel tilt, guidelines, character positions, character emotes, photo presets, and a portrait mode toggle.
Overlanding modifications
A new bunch of selected trucks in Forza Horizon 5 will now have unique overlanding modifications available. These mods were previously limited to the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum and have now been extended to 16 additional trucks.
New EventLab props
The EventLab mode in Forza Horizon 5 now offers new props and structures for players to unleash their creativity. The update introduces snappable asphalt pieces for building the Horizon Oval Circuit in the “Racing” category. Additionally, five new props featuring lights and a backdrop are available in the “Decorations” tab, allowing players to create their own photo studio.
Weekly Photo Challenges and collectibles
Players can embark on a journey to discover different mini-camp sites through the Weekly Photo Challenges in Explore the Horizon. Additionally, smashable animal-shaped cardboard cut-out collectibles can be found in various destinations each week.
New cosmetics and CUPRA race suit
Players can express their style with three new car horns: Raptor Rawr, Reaper Cackle, and Predator Howl. Additionally, the arrival of CUPRA vehicles is celebrated with the exclusive CUPRA Race Suit, which can be unlocked during the series.

Pathfinder challenges
Players can test their map knowledge and skills with the new Pathfinder Challenges in Forza Horizon 5. These consist of 12 unique routes highlighted by markers in Free Roam. Each week, three routes are available to complete, accompanied by an associated accolade. Successfully completing all three routes in a week rewards players with a Treasure Chest, a new Player Badge, and unlocks the 1953 Morris Minor Series II Traveler.
Festival Playlist: Explore the Horizon
The Explore the Horizon update brings eight Seasonal PR Stunts and four Trailblazers to the Festival Playlist. These challenges are marked on the map with unique purple and blue hue icons. Players are encouraged to aim for 3-star performances in these challenges, as they are only available for a limited time until the end of the series.
Showcase Remix: Splash of the Titans
In the Summer “Wet” season, players can participate in the Showcase Remix event called “Splash of the Titans.” The event features the all-new 2019 DeBerti Ford Super Duty F-250 Lariat ‘Transformer’ racing against a team of jet skis. To unlock this Showcase Remix, players need to complete the standard version titled “Flood, Sweat and Gears.”
New cars added to Forza Horizon 5
The Explore the Horizon update introduces six new-to-Forza cars for players to enjoy. Four of these cars can be unlocked through the Festival Playlist while the others are claimed as gifts.
Here are the details of the new cars added to the game:
- 2019 DeBerti Ford Super Duty F-250 Lariat ‘Transformer’: This truck features a 6.7-liter diesel engine with 850 brake horsepower, robust suspension system, LED beacons, and 37-inch tires. It will be available from May 25 to June 1.
- 1986 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat: This iconic seventh-generation F-150 combines comfort and versatility with its 5.0 (302) V8 engine. It will be available from June 1 to June 8.
- 1972 Chevrolet K-10 Custom: This classic truck from the C/K Series offers retro style and rugged reliability with its Chevrolet 350 Small Block V8 engine. It will be available from June 8 to June 15.
- 2022 GMC HUMMER EV Pickup: This fully-equipped electric truck delivers astonishing power with up to 1,000 horses and 11,500 lb-ft of wheel torque. It features four-wheel steering, extreme off-road tires, and adaptive air ride suspension. It will be available from June 15 to June 22.
In addition to these cars, players will also receive two CUPRA EVs as gifts during the Explore the Horizon series: the 2021 CUPRA Formentor VZ5 and the 2022 CUPRA Tavascan Concept.
