Starfield Shattered Space DLC was announced by game director Todd Howard in an IGN exclusive interview following the Starfield Direct showcase. This story expansion is set to be the first one in the series of many DLCs Bethesda has planned for the sci-fi space adventure game. In the interview, Howard revealed that Bethesda is planning on offering many updates and story expansions for the players, on top of the mammoth map and storyline of the base game.
Starfield Shattered Space DLC will be included in Premium and Constellation Editions
The Shattered Space Starfield DLC will be made available for players who preorder the Premium as well as Constellation Editions of the game. This means that Starfield Shattered Space story expansion will be available for these players when the DLC eventually comes out, without the need for a separate purchase.
Bethesda hasn’t revealed any details about the first DLC; however, according to Howard, this is set to be a massive DLC, offering significant expansion for the players. He also revealed in the interview that Bethesda is planning on releasing several expansions in the months following Starfield’s release. All of these DLCs will be of different sizes, blending small updates and big landmark story expansions.
Starfield Shattered Space will be the first of many upcoming DLCs
Despite the game’s massive map size, which offers players hundreds of hours of gameplay, Bethesda is set on offering regular updates and expansions over the years. In the IGN interview, Howard stated that ‘… despite the size of the game, there’s still things we want to add as far as features in the future or stories and things like that. Hopefully it’s going to continue for a long time that way.’ This indicates that the Starfield Shattered Space DLC will be one of the many content chunks that the fans of this epic space exploration RPG can expect along the way.
Bethesda and their track record of impeccable DLCs
Bethesda is famous for their DLCs, with some expansions offering even more fun content and gameplay experience than some of their base versions of popular games. Players have definitely enjoyed many of the developer’s DLCs, such as the Far Harbor for Fallout 4, The Shivering Isles for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Dragonborn for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and The Broken Steel as well as The Pitt for Fallout 3. With a game that’s over 25 years in making, it won’t be a surprise if Bethesda plans on creating and distributing quality DLCs for Starfield over the next five to six years.
