The open beta for Battlefield 6 is officially the biggest in the series’ history, pulling in a record number of players and cementing its spot as one of the most-played games on Steam. The beta test, which has been open to a ton of players over the past weekend and will be again next weekend, saw a peak of 521,079 concurrent players on Steam alone.
This isn’t just a win for the Battlefield series; this massive number of players actually puts it ahead of other big-name multiplayer games like Helldivers 2, Elden Ring Nightreign, and Destiny 2. In fact, it has become the eighteenth biggest game ever on Steam when you look at concurrent player numbers. This is a phenomenal achievement for an open beta, and it’s a huge sign of the hype surrounding the game ahead of its official release on October 10.
Battlefield 6 Open Beta Is off to a Good Start

This record-breaking performance from the Battlefield 6 Open Beta is especially impressive when you consider what it’s up against. For a beta to hit these numbers is unheard of, and it even surpassed the massive concurrent player peak for the Monster Hunter Wilds PC beta from back in February. That game hit a peak of 463,798 players on Steam, which was a huge number at the time.
Battlefield 6 comes along and blows past that with over 521,079 concurrent players on Steam, which is pretty incredible. EA even took to social media to announce the news, calling it the “biggest Open Beta ever”. They also mentioned that because of the overwhelming number of people trying to get in, queues were to be expected, but that they were working on entry times and appreciated players’ patience.
Battlfield 6 Keeps Winning

The open beta is giving a lot of people a chance to jump in and try the game out before it launches this October. Everyone who requested access to the Battlefield 6 Labs tests got access to these weekend tests. If you weren’t able to get in this past weekend, don’t worry, because you can still complete the Weekend 1 challenges during the next weekend’s test. There are also still some ways you might be able to snag a beta code if you’re keen to give it a try, but just be ready to deal with some queues to get in.
With its official release date set for October 10, the open beta’s success is a huge vote of confidence for the series. It proves that the hunger for a new Battlefield experience is very much alive and fed with Battlefield 6. The fact that so many people are willing to sit in queues just to get a taste of the game speaks volumes about the anticipation. Hopefully, the developers at EA will take all the feedback and data from this huge beta test and use it for a much better game, because Battlefield 2042 just wasn’t cutting it.
