Looking for the Best Base Locations in Grounded 2 can be a bit of digging at first, but eventually it shapes your game as you move forward. After spending hours scoping out the map, we’ve found a few places that really stood out.
We chose these because they had great resources nearby, looked awesome, or just felt safe to settle into. With that in mind, here’s a breakdown of the coolest and most useful Best Base Locations spots we’ve found (that can make your journey easier) so far in Grounded 2.
The Best Locations To Make Bases in Grounded 2
Mushroom Pads Near the Oak Tree

These chunky mushrooms growing off the side of the oak tree are more than just background flair — you can actually build directly on them. No floating platforms or funky tricks needed. They’re sturdy, elevated, and look great as a natural foundation. Resources are stacked nearby too: stems, weeds, clay, even a few caterpillars and gnats for quick food grabs.
Only catch? It’s vertical, so if you’re not into building upwards or hate climbing, this might not be your vibe. But it’s easily one of the most creative base platforms in the game.

Billy Hogs Wooden Landing

This flat plank right in front of the Snackbar “A” sign is a hidden gem. It’s super open and stable, and barely any hostile creatures patrol the area. You can build straight on top of it without fuss. You’ll need to venture out for most materials, but there are mushrooms below to help you get started. It’s not the easiest to reach or build up initially, but it pays off with how clean and organized it feels once it’s set up.
Under the Tablecloth – Juice Box Vibe
Juice boxes in Grounded 2 are more than just decor. Building under the one beneath the picnic table gives your base a pop of color and a unique shape. There’s some solid loot nearby too: grass, stems, mushrooms, and even a few orc enemies that can double as food when needed. It’s not super sturdy horizontally, so you’ll have to build up from the ground — but the vibe? Totally worth it.
The Grassy Rock Tier

A bit further out, there’s this two-level grassy rock that honestly feels made for building. One part’s a bit raised, the other’s a little lower — perfect for multi-level base setups. Visually, it’s solid. Sunlight hits it well, and the surrounding greenery makes it look clean and peaceful.
You’ve got easy food nearby, but yeah, mosquitoes sometimes float around. The good news? They rarely come up to the rock itself, so it still feels safe once you’re up there.
Ceremony Biome – Rock Base Near Edge of Map

This large rock in the ceremony biome is high up and mostly peaceful. Bees don’t bug you here, and you’ll barely run into any patrols. Loads of stems, mushrooms, and grass surround the area. It’s also not far from the map’s edge, which could be important later if more content gets added in that direction. If you’re thinking long-term or want a secure circular setup, this is the one we recommend.

Ice Cream Cart Area – Natural Arena

Way out on the map’s outskirts is this wide-open space near the ice cream cart. There’s a sap-covered trunk that practically screams “build on me.” It’s flat, has tons of nearby materials (pine needles, sap, clay, grass), and is right along a major weevil route — free food, basically. Gnats hover over a nearby river, adding more value. This is probably one of the most natural-feeling places to set up camp, especially if you like a more organic base look.
Southeast Wooden Post – Picnic Table Biome

If you’re in the picnic table area, check out the post to the southeast. It’s one of the easier ones to get on even without the orb weaver buggy. A simple climb and rope jump, and you’re there. It’s tall, offers great visibility, and sits fairly central on the map.
Food’s nearby (caterpillars spawn close), and you won’t need to do any weird building tricks to get started. A+ spot for anyone wanting a high base with great views and fewer threats, and it has our recommendation.
