What good is a Thaumaturge without the proper skills to defend? You are going to lose a lot of the fights you pick in the early game if you don’t know the best Skill Upgrades to unlock first. Some of them, when paired with the right Skill attack, can be especially powerful and able to change the tides of a battle.

Best Early Game Skill Upgrades In The Thaumaturge
Skill Upgrades can be paired with Wiktor’s Skills and are unlocked by investing Thaumaturgy points into one of the four Force Dimensions: Heart, Mind, Deed, and Word. You can press “O” by default to view the Thaumaturgy panel.
These Skill Upgrades are the ones you should prioritize on unlocking first:
Fortune

Fortune works great when paired with Wiktor’s basic Quick Attack skill. You can easily interrupt and cancel an enemy’s planned attack with a quick jab. This has saved me a lot of Health Points in my early fights.
Thief Of Thought

Before you tame your first Mind Salutor Lelek, this Skill Upgrade will be your key source of bringing down Focus points on enemies quickly. Pair this with Wiktor’s Diversion skill and you will be able to bring down two points of Focus in one turn after putting the enemy in a Suffering State.

Bloody Rejuvenation

Healing in The Thaumaturge is already a difficult task due to the lack of actual healing items. This Skill Upgrade helps to regain some of that lost health. It works even better when you manage to inflict the Suffering Status on multiple enemies.
Third Principle

The Third Principle can sound like it isn’t all that, but one Salutor Skill alone makes this Skill Upgrade so powerful: Bukavic’s Doom Skill. That skill can do a lot of damage but can be really slow if used on an enemy with a lot of health, sometimes even taking 2 turns. With the Third Principle, you can make this skill faster which pretty much counters the thing that balances it.
