Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a Soulslike game at its core, which means it will be difficult for most players to pick it up and crush through it without an easy mode setting. This game features difficult enemies, powerful bosses, no proper guidelines, and a big, open world to explore at your will.
However, amidst all the difficult aspects, the area where you will struggle the most is the early game, where you’re still trying to understand the key mechanics and managing the difficulty of the game. As such, a few good early-game weapons will make your journey a lot easier.
Wuchang Fallen Feathers: Best Early Game Weapons to Pick Up

There is a wide variety of weapons in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and some can be found in the early game, while others can be found in the endgame. However, just because you’re picking up a weapon in the early game doesn’t mean it won’t carry you throughout.
We have put up for you what we think are the best early game weapons in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers:
Let’s look at the locations for each of these weapons, and what makes them so op in early game.
Empyrean Greataxe

This is one of the best weapons you can use in the early game. It has a massive AoE, deals a lot of damage, and can one-shot basic enemies when used for plunging attacks. The only downside to this weapon is that it is quite slow, so you have to be careful with agile enemies.
How to Get: You get it from Shu Sanctum, near the Gluttonous Monstrosity Boss Fight. Unlock the tree bridge on the second floor of the Shu Sanctum. Use that bridge and turn left, which will take you to one of the houses near the Sanctum. Get on top of the house right where the road ends, and use the ladder to reach the rooftop to find the Empyrean Greataxe.
Bitter Severance

This is an exceptionally powerful Dual Blade that comes with high Agility Scaling and also helps close the gap with enemies quite easily. The only downside to this weapon is that you need to focus on Clash Timings to make it function optimally, and you need to defeat a boss to get it.
How to Get: Defeat the boss, Perfect Bride – Fang Ling, whom you can find in the lowest section of The Shaft.

Gunpowder Spear

Spears are some of the strongest weapons in the game, and the Gunpowder Spear is one of the best you can find in the early game. Being a spear, you can maintain distance from enemies, but this one lets you fight from even longer ranges than normal spears.
Additionally, you can use it for a Counter-attacking playstyle, where it deals an absurd amount of damage.
How to Get: It is found in the Rebel Camp, right after you enter the Cloudspire Outskirts after going through the Snowy Passage. When you enter the Cloudspire Outskirts, you will notice a huge tower in the Rebel Camp.
There will be a ladder that you can use, and that will take you to the top of the tower. The Gunpowder Spear is found inside a small chest.
Flamebringer

Longswords are some of the most balanced weapons in the game since they boast both offense and defense. The Flamebringer is one such Longsword, but it performs better than every other version of the weapon you can pick up in the early game.
It comes with high Strength and Agility scaling, making it a wonderful choice for Quality builds. Additionally, it deals very high Fire Damage, making it effective against enemies weak to this element.
How to Get: Defeat General of the North Ai Nengqi, found in the Cloudspire Outskirts, to receive this weapon.

Darkfrost Edge

If you’re looking for a weapon that is good for new players, but can be picked up right at the start of the game, then Darkfrost Edge is your best choice. This weapon makes it easy to dodge and evade enemy attacks.
Additionally, it stacks up Skyborn Might very quickly, which will be handy for you, especially in the early game.
How to Get: You can find it on a table at the entrance of the Lightzen Camp, surrounded by a couple of Bandits.
