Nexon’s third-person looter shooter The First Descendant is nearing its release on all major platforms, including old-gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One. It is also set to come out on PC via Steam, but many players who own Macbooks are confused about whether it can also be downloaded and played on macOS. If you are also planning to play The First Descendant on Mac, here is what you should know.
Is The First Descendant playable on Mac?
No, The First Descendant is not playable on Mac. The Steam listing of The First Descendant only supports the Windows operating system and the PC requirements on the official website also state Windows as the required OS.
This is unfortunate for players on Mac as despite being a free-to-play title, they will not be able to play it on their system. Gaming on Mac has taken a jump in recent years with the new and upgraded macOS laptops and desktops that can handle high-end gaming just as well as any gaming laptop. So, it’s natural that many new MacBook owners are looking to give it a shot.

So far, developers at Nexon have not confirmed or denied any future possibility of The First Descendant being supported on macOS. Likely, they don’t see any value in putting the effort to port the game on Mac since the player numbers are exceptionally low compared to all the other platforms it’s coming out on.
Until we get any news from Nexon about it, it’s safe to say that The First Descendant will not be coming out on Mac at launch or anytime soon. Maybe after enough of the Mac player base voices their opinion about wanting it on their systems, Nexon might take note of it and work on bringing it to macOS.
