If you told me CoD would have a 3rd person camera back when I was playing BO2, I would never believe it. But here we are in 2024 with CoD indeed having a 3rd person mode. XDefiant is developed with CoD as its direct competition, so will XDefiant also adopt the 3rd person perspective? Here is what you need to know.
Is XDefiant playable in 3rd person?
There is no option to switch the camera to third person in XDefiant, nor is there a special playlist or mode for it. XDefiant is exclusively played from the first-person perspective, and the developers have no plans to add third-person modes in the near future.
However, as I said earlier, people thought the third-person camera would never come to CoD due to how heavily focused it is on the first-person perspective gameplay, but we did eventually get a third-person mode in that game.

But even with its addition to the game, the majority of the player base does not like it and still sticks to the first-person modes. So, while we could see a third-person mode added to XDefiant in the future, it will likely be a separate playlist rather than being incorporated into the gameplay itself, where players are allowed to switch between it.
For a game like XDefiant, a third-person perspective will drastically change the gameplay, like having the ability to peek around corners without leaving cover. The change in gameplay is big enough that it requires a separate playlist, just like CoD has implemented, and so far, there are no signs that this will come in XDefiant any time soon.
