Gwynn is a powerful 5-star Void Lightbearer in Destiny: Rising, and the first limited character in the game that you need to pull from the banner. She was heavily advertised in the various trailers of the game and is definitely one of the most popular characters so far amongst the entire roster.
Since Gwynn is part of the limited banner, as a free-to-play player, you’ll find it hard to unlock all her Talent Nodes in Destiny: Rising. However, even at the base level, she is very strong. Building Gwynn isn’t too hard either, as you can get all of her required weapons by simply grinding the endgame content. However, once you have her built, she becomes an absurdly powerful DPS unit who can crush through all kinds of content that the game has to offer.
Best Gwynn Build In Destiny: Rising

Gwynn, similar to every other character in Destiny: Rising, can be used both for PvE as well as PvP. However, the builds for PvP and PvE change since you need different weapons and artifacts to gain victory. The best builds that you should aim to run when playing Gwynn have been listed in the following table.
Build Elements | PVE | PVP |
---|---|---|
Primary Weapon | Concerto | Chushingura |
Heavy Weapon | Eternal Retribution | The Chaperone |
Artifact Slot 1 | Resolute Conjuction | Abundant Planetesimal |
Artifact Slot 2 | Healing Conjunction | Binging Planetesimal |
Artifact Slot 3 | Jolted Transit | Courageous Planetesimal |
Artifact Slot 4 | Resonating Transit | Rampaging Planetesimal |
In the case of PvP, if you want, you can use Concerto for the Primary Slot, but in that case, you’ll have to let go of The Chaperone. However, The Chaperone is not just the best Shotgun for PvP, but it also oozes style as you shut down enemies with a shot to their heads. While Destiny: Rising isn’t directly related to Destiny 2, The Chaperone maintains its effectiveness when used against other Guardians in combat.
Best Weapons For Gwynn In Destiny: Rising

Gwynn can only use Sidearm and Shotgun in Destiny: Rising. The best Primary weapons to use for Gwynn are Concerto and Chushingura, while the best Heavy weapons are Eternal Retribution and The Chaperone. All of these weapons deal high damage, and they synergize very well with Gwynn.
Weapons | Description |
---|---|
Concerto | This is a very powerful Void Sidearm that is pretty much crafted for Gwynn. As you kill with this weapon, it triggers a buff called Cadenza. This buff increases the damage of the weapon by 20%. Additionally, if you switch to Shotgun when Cadenza is active, it reloads the magazine of Concerto. |
Eternal Retribution | This is a Mythic weapon and is one of the best for Gwynn in PvE content. As you shoot this weapon, its fire rate increases, and so does its damage. Once the magazine is empty, the weapon’s reload speed increases, which allows you to get it ready very quickly. |
Chushingura | This is yet another Mythic weapon, but this time it’s for the Primary slot. This weapon comes with an Intrinsic Perk that allows you to run fast when it’s equipped. This makes it easy to chase enemies in PvP. Additionally, your Sprint Speed increases as you defeat enemies. |
The Chaperone | This is an Exotic Shotgun, which is pretty much catered towards PvP. This weapon can one-shot any Guardian as long as you are shooting in the head while aiming down sights. That is the specialty of the weapon, which makes it a must-have among those who are very skilled in PvP. Additionally, it has a very long range when compared to other Shotguns, which makes the weapon even more effective. |
If you don’t want to use Eternal Retribution, you can consider going for Octant Riot Disperser. It is also a pretty good Shotgun, but Concerto pairs well with Gwynn, and you cannot use two Exotic weapons at once. As such, it’s not worth dropping Concerto in endgame PvE content
Best Aritfacts For Gwynn In Destiny: Rising

When it comes to Artifacts, you need to focus on damage amplification and survivability. Ideally, in PvP, you are looking for survivability since killing other Lightbearers isn’t too hard, as long as you’re landing your shots. In PvE, however, you have to mix and match between damage and DPS so that you can take down bosses easily.
Best Artifacts For PvP
The best Artifacts for PvP include Abundant Planetesimal, Binging Planetesimal, Courageous Planetesimal, and Rampaging Planetesimal. A discussion on the Artifacts has been listed in the following table.
Artifact | Description |
---|---|
Abundant Planetesimal | This Artifact restores health whenever the equipped character uses a Signature ability. |
Binging Planetesimal | Dealing damage restores health based on the amount of damage dealt. |
Courageous Planetesimal | Whenever an ability is used, it increases the damage dealt by the equipped character. |
Rampaging Planetesimal | When the equipped character deals damage within a 15-meter radius, it increases the damage of the signature ability by 1.4%. |
As you can see, there is a mix of survivability and damage with these four Artifacts. It allows you to play aggressively and jump in-between Lightbearers. The damage boost allows you to take down enemies quickly, which will help your kill-death ratio. However, you must understand that when it comes to PvP, player skill matters more, and the Artifacts will only function where you’re able to dominate your opponents.
PvE Artifacts
In PvE, the artifacts you need to use include Resolute Conjunction, Healing Conjunction, Jolted Transit, and Resonating Transit. Similar to the PvP artifacts, the PvE ones also include a mix of damage and survivability. A discussion on the artifacts has been listed in the following table.
Artifacts | Description |
---|---|
Resolute Conjunction | Reduced damage from enemies that are within a 15m radius. |
Healing Conjunction | Whenever you take damage from an enemy within a 15m radius, you regenerate health for 6 seconds. |
Jolted Transit | The weapon in hand deals higher body damage and less precision damage. |
Resonating Transit | When two weapons of the same element are used, the elemental damage is increased. |
These artifacts are heavily focused towards aggressive gameplay, which synergizes well with Gwynn’s Abilities in Destiny: Rising. Since Gwynn’s signature abilities are close-range, you want to be as close as possible to the enemy. However, you also don’t want to die when dealing damage to basic mobs or bosses. As such, the reduced damage and healing help you to stay healthy and keep fighting.
Best Teammates For Gwynn In Destiny: Rising

Similar to Wolf’s best build in Destiny: Rising, Gwynn’s build is incomplete without mentioning some characters that she benefits from. Since she is a DPS unit, you wouldn’t want to jump in aggressively without backup. Gwynn doesn’t have much survivability in her kit, so pairing her alongside healers and supports is worthwhile.
Characters | Description |
---|---|
Tan-2 | Tan-2 is a very good unit to pair alongside Gwynn, as the former can place either a healing field or a damage field near the boss. This will help Gwynn deal damage without being forced to run away. |
Wolf | This might sound like a weird pair, but Wolf is a pretty good unit to pair with Gwynn. This is because Wolf’s ad clear is very good and when paired with Gwynn, both of them can wipe out the battlefield very quickly. Additionally, Gwynn’s boss damage is very high, which allows her to complement Wolf in clearing bigger enemies. |
Finnala | Finnala’s crowd control is one of the best in the game, which helps out Gwynn quite a bit. Finnala can draw in enemies, while Gwynn can use her signature ability to wipe them out in one hit. |
Overall, Gwynn is quite possibly one of the strongest units in the game; however, she will be helpless without a team. When you are taking part in raids or other endgame content, you will have to play to your strengths as well as those of the team. This is the only way you’ll be able to clear Heroic and other high-end content and grab loot from them in Destiny: Rising.
