Mysteries in Hell Is Us are optional side quests that often involve puzzles, hidden items, or secret passages. Completing them is not always straightforward, since the game rarely provides enough hints to guide you.
Many Mysteries are tied to notes or exploration items that unlock hidden activities. Finishing them rewards you with rare loot, defensive gear, weapons, relics, and research items. For completionists, solving every single Mystery is also required to unlock the Super Sleuth Trophy.
Hell Is Us: All Mysteries and How To Complete Them
Mysteries can be found across every major area in Hell Is Us. Each one has its own location and unique requirement, whether it’s solving a symbol puzzle, finding special keys, or inputting hidden passcodes. Some are quick to finish, while others only become available as you progress further into the story.
Caddell Family Treasure (Senedra Forest)

Start by following the sloping path near the ruins in Senedra Forest. Look for small rocks stacked upon each other, as these act as markers leading you forward. Along the way, you’ll find a Rusted Key. Keep going until you reach a campsite, then look to your right for a ridge you can drop down.
The blue-painted stones mark the correct route. At the bottom is a chest locked with the Rusted Key. Open it to collect the Bracelet of Ecstasy-Wanton Destruction and the Caddell Treasure Note.
Secrets of the Ram (Senedra Forest)

Head into the ruins and look for a door sealed by magical symbols. To break the seal, you must activate two sigils: the first is inside the ruins, easy to spot near the broken wall.
The second sigil is located just outside, close to the path that leads back toward the APC. Once both are triggered, the door opens. Inside, you’ll find the Glyph: Recoil and Queen’s Decree.
Emergency Stash (Senedra Forest)

This Mystery is inside Arcas Spire. Enter the bone pit chamber and climb the ladder tucked in the corner. At the top, you’ll find a key.
Head back from where you came and find a locked chest on the upper walkway of the same chamber, and use the key to open it. The chest holds five Steady Tuning Stones, useful for upgrading gear.
Righteous Protection (Senedra Forest)

After finishing the Arcas Spire Puzzle, climb the long staircase. Halfway up, you’ll see a hole in the floor. Drop down the hole carefully. Defeat the enemies in this lower chamber and loot a key.
Return to the staircase, continue upward, and defeat the Spire boss to acquire the Keystone of Terror. In the boss room, you’ll find a locked chest that can now be opened with the earlier key. Inside is the Bracelet of Terror-Shadowstep.
Martial Lineage (Acasa Marshes)

From Jova Village, make your way through the swamp until you reach a raised hill with ancient monoliths. In the clearing, you’ll see four glowing stone pillars. The puzzle requires striking the pillars in a specific order: start with the one to the east, then move counter-clockwise to the others.
If you get it wrong, the sequence resets, so pay close attention. Completing this unlocks the Lymbic Greatsword, Brooch of Terror-Dreadful Weave, consumables, and the Proud Father Letter. These glowing pillars also connect to the broader Enlightenment Puzzle across the Marshes.
The Protector (Acasa Marshes)

This Mystery becomes available in Act 2, once you can access Pathem Abbey. Inside, destroy the Timeloop device to retrieve the Golden Clover.
Take the Clover south to Jova Village, where you’ll find a marked tombstone on the village’s edge. Place the Clover there to finish the Mystery and claim The Bloodseeker Relic along with an Eulogy Scroll.
Lucky Break (Vyssa Hills)

Head into the mines in Vyssa Hills and explore until you discover a skeleton holding a Rusted Key. Take this key to the nearby waterfalls, where there’s a small ruin with a locked chest.
Open it to obtain the Lymbic Polearm and Flower Medallion. You’ll also come across the sealed Military Camp gate in this region, and figuring out how to open it is an essential step for progressing further.
Pilgrimage (Vyssa Hills)

Begin in the Plains of Mist, where you’ll come across a ruined stone house. Inside is a Barrel Key and the Exodus Note. These are tied to the Serpent Door in Vyssa Hills.
Travel there, unlock the door with the Barrel Key, and enter the chamber. Your rewards are Lymbic Slivers-Enhanced and Steady Tuning Stones.
Lost Keys (Lake Cynon)

When you first arrive at Lake Cynon, look for the Lost Keys Note near the reservoir. To progress, you’ll need to solve the Lake Cynon Puzzle, which drains the pool.
Once the water level lowers, descend to the bottom to collect the Algae Key. Later in Marastan, visit Samo’s General Store and use the Algae Key to unlock a sealed container. Inside is the Cap of Terror.
Safekeeping (Lake Cynon)

After Abbot Jaffer and Rebecca settle in Lake Cynon, search the area near their home for the Rustic Key. Take this back to Acasa Marshes, specifically Pathem Abbey. Inside, the Rustic Key unlocks a small niche that hides the Panoptic Eudemon Relic and the Safekeeping Letter.
The Hideout (Talju)

This Mystery connects to Agatha’s storyline. In Talju, head to the house directly across from the pharmacy. Inside, you’ll find a safe that requires a unique combination, similar to other vault and door codes scattered across the game.
Input Agatha’s ID serial number (3-4-9-1-1) to open it. The safe holds the Idol of Rage-Contempt and Agatha’s Diary.
Supply Chain (Talju)

Find the Pharmacy Key in the plaza after the refugees have left Talju. Unlock the Pharmacy and head inside to the computer terminal. Enter the code 91012 to complete the Mystery, unlocking the Supply Issues Email.
Locked Down (Marastan)

Search the river clearing to find a newspaper with sports scores. This is the clue you’ll need to complete the mystery. Next, travel to the APC and move toward the end of the highway. A computer terminal here asks for a code. Input 4-1-3-2 to finish the Mystery, receiving the First Day Logbook Email.
Ill-Gotten Gains Part 1 (Marastan)

In the Marastan crypts, explore the basement of a family home connected to the “Power to the People” quest. This leads you to observatory caverns, where you’ll find the Marastan Church Key.
Head back to the crypt and use the key to open the gate. Inside is the Bracelet of Grief-Depression and Wooden Horse Figurine.
Ill-Gotten Gains Part 2 (Marastan)

Scan the damaged wall in the crypt to reveal hints of a hidden route. From the APC, cross the bridge and follow a dirt path guarded by a Hollow enemy. Defeat it and proceed to the far side of the crypt. Inside, you’ll find the Polearm of Terror and a Lymbic Core.
Overgrown (Plains of Mist)

This Mystery starts near a large sword pillar. Close by, you’ll find the Mossy Key. Travel further until you encounter a Hollow that throws projectiles. Beyond it lies a chest that the Mossy Key unlocks. Inside is the Idol of Ecstasy-Battle Stance.
Ascetic Vows (Plains of Mist)

After completing the second Plains of Mist Puzzle, examine the sacrament pillars nearby. A key rests between the third and fourth sections. Use this key to unlock a trove containing the Skull in Box, Lady Sophia’s Journal, and related lore notes.
Great Responsibility (Auriga Museum)

Once you’ve obtained the Keystone of Terror, take the elevator in Auriga Museum down to a storeroom. Here, collect the Iron Crown Symbol.
Bring it back to the entrance hall and use it at the crest near the Hollow statues. Doing so rewards you with the Polearm of Rage, Steady Tuning Stones, and the Ceremonial Key.
Lax Security (Auriga Museum)

In the B3 section of the Museum, access a computer to find the safe code (7-7-7-7-7). Return to the Timeloop control room on B1 and enter this code on the safe. Inside are the Drone Module: Distract-Elite and Amine Prisms Theta and Rho.
Hell Is Us offers little direct guidance, so thorough exploration is essential. Many Mysteries are connected to hidden notes or items scattered throughout the world, so paying attention to details is key.
By following these solutions, you can complete every Mystery in Hell Is Us. Doing so also unlocks the Super Sleuth Trophy, making it worthwhile for completionists.
