Fibre Optic Cable in Abiotic Factor is one of the main items for story progression but can also be used to craft high-end equipment. It’s mainly needed in the Manufacturing West section of the game, when you’ll use it to repair the Synchrotron pumps.
Unlike many of the resources that you can scavenge, this item is only available through trading, so if you want to upgrade your vehicle and progress in the game, you will want to plan wisely. So, here is a guide to getting the Fibre Optic Cable in Abiotic Factor.
Abiotic Factor – How to get Fibre Optic Cable

You can only get Fibre Optic Cable in Abiotic Factor by trading Solder with the Blacksmith in the Forge area of Manufacturing West. The trade is straightforward: place your Solder into the box in front of him, and he’ll give you one Fibre Optic Cable for each piece.
The Blacksmith also handles trades for the other Synchrotron materials. Reinforced Hose can be traded for Optic Lens, and Axle Grease can be traded for Diodes. Once you have all three materials, you’ll be able to repair the electron pumps and progress deeper into the game.

Why do you need Fibre Optic Cable in Abiotic Factor?
Once you finish the Office Sector and head into Manufacturing West, the Synchrotron becomes the next major obstacle. To restore it, you’ll need three different components: Fibre Optic Cable, Optic Lens, and Diode. All of these come from the same NPC, the Blacksmith, and are required to unlock Cascade Laboratories, the next area of the game.
Fibre Optic Cable is also used for useful equipment like GATE NVGs and the Healing Briefcase, which help with night exploration and team support.
Extra uses for Fibre Optic Cable in Abiotic Factor
Even after the Synchrotron quest, Fibre Optic Cable in Abiotic Factor stays useful. It’s required for:
- GATE NVGs: Night vision goggles made from four Fibre Optic Cables and additional rare parts.
- Healing Briefcase: A deployable healing item that uses one Fibre Optic Cable, useful during tougher encounters.
Because of these recipes, it’s worth crafting extra Solder whenever you have the scrap to spare. Make sure you make enough to have around with you.
