In Grounded 2, collecting grass seeds is an important early-game task because you need them to unlock the shovel attachment for your Omni-Tool. Luckily, you only need to look up to find your nearest grass seed.
Grass Seeds aren’t just on any piece of grass; instead, you need to know where to look. Luckily, once you know, it’s hard to forget.
Grounded 2 – Where Do You Get Grass Seeds?

To get grass seeds in Grounded 2, you need to get grass flowers. Although grass is everywhere in the game world, the “Grass Flowers” that drop seeds are not as common as regular grass, and they can be easy to miss if you aren’t paying attention.
To find grass flowers, you need to look up. Instead of searching the ground, tilt your camera upward and focus on the taller grass stalks. These “Grass Flowers” stand out because they have seed clusters at the very top, which often look like fuzzy or overgrown tips.
You can often find these special grass stalks in the starting area of the park and near the snack bar, especially to the east and north, where the grass is thicker. Avoid the southern areas where the grass is mostly dead, since dry grass stalks won’t drop any seeds.
What Are Grass Seeds For?

In Grounded 2, grass seeds play a very important but somewhat narrow role, mainly acting as a key resource that can slow progress early in the game. Their biggest use is in crafting the first upgrade for your Omni-Tool shovel. This upgrade is necessary to move forward because the shovel lets you collect important materials like clay and dig up grubs, which are used for grub hide and other crafting recipes.
Without the Omni-Shovel, your ability to gather certain resources and improve your tools is heavily limited. To get the level 1 Omni-Shovel, you need at least one grass seed, so it won’t take long. While many other crafting materials are easy to find or plentiful, grass seeds are different in how you get them.
Outside of this important early-game upgrade, grass seeds don’t seem to have many uses in Grounded 2. They don’t go bad, so there’s no rush to use them right away, but their main purpose is tied to the Omni-Shovel upgrade.
You can use grass seeds to plant individual grass blades in gardens, but this is usually a waste of time since grass is already everywhere and garden plots require other resources. Otherwise, you can use them to make healing smoothies, since they’re easy to collect in large numbers once you know where to look.

How Do You Harvest Grass Seeds?

When you find a Grass Flower, walk up to the bottom of its stalk. The game should display a text prompt confirming it’s a “Grass Flower.” Next, switch to your Omni-Tool and use its axe function to chop it down. You don’t need any upgrades for this; the basic Omni-Tool axe works just fine.
As the Grass Flower falls, it will drop seeds that you can gather from the ground. Be aware that the seeds might bounce or roll a little after landing, so watch where they go. Unlike some other materials in the game, dry grass seeds don’t expire, so you can collect them without rushing to use them right away.
