How To Get The Black Greatsword In Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon

Remnant 2 is a souls-like game, and you always see people making a Berserk-inspired build with a Greatsword in those games. Now you can also do the same with the Black Greatsword in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon DLC. Here is how you can unlock this melee weapon, which has now become the ultimate end-game reward.

How To Craft The Black Greatsword In Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon

You need to obtain Black Metal Bars from Brabus by purchasing every single weapon in his weapon shop, and then give it to McCabe to craft the Black Greatsword in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to craft the Black Greatsword:

1. Gather enough Scraps and buy all weapons from Brabus which will cost around 20,000 Scraps. Brabus can be found at the firing range in Ward 13.
   • Note: You only need to buy the weapons, not the Archetype items or the items you might’ve sold to him which also appear in his buy menu.
2. After buying all the weapons interact with him again he will initiate a new dialogue where he talks about his past. He will then tell you that he has something for you.
3. Accept the item from him and you will receive the Black Metal Bars.
   
4. Now head inside to talk to McCabe and select the new dialogue option that says “I have something for you to look at.“
5. Hand over the Black Metal Bars to McCabe. She will now tell you to come back later since she is busy and can’t craft the item at this moment.
6. Simply head to the World Stone, fast travel to any area, and return to Ward 13.
7. Talk to McCabe again and ask her “Is it done?”. She will then give you the Black Greatsword.

This can take quite a while since you need to gather enough Scraps to buy all the weapons. For this reason, this is an item that’s made for players who have played a lot and have already purchased most if not all the weapons From Brabus.

Keep in mind that although you can do all the steps without going to the DLC location, the dialogue interactions with Brabus after buying all of his weapons will only trigger if you have The Dark Horizon DLC installed.

  • Indomitable Strike: Charged Attacks give you stacks of INDOMITABLE.
    • INDOMITABLE: Grants a 15% Damage Reduction while converting all damage received into Grey Health. It also makes the user immune to Stagger. Charging Attack will stack the effect and give the user up to 350% increase in Maximum Damage with full stacks.

  • Guts: Gives a 5% increase to Melee Critical Chance whenever Grey Health is present.

It also comes with its own Mutator called Guts which isn’t applied to it by default but it will appear in your Mutator choices when trying to apply one to the Black Greatsword. You can also opt to put any of your other Mutators that you have.

Every souls-like needs a Guts sword and it’s exciting to see that Remnant 2 finally has one as well with the addition of the Black Greatsword in Remnant 2: The Dark Horizon DLC. This is also another type of an end-game melee weapon, similar to the Hero’s Sword in Remnant 2.
