In the new Skate game, you can literally fly like a bird, which takes the whole skateboarding thing to a whole new level. You can launch yourself off buildings and glide through the city of San Vansterdam, and it honestly makes the whole environment feel way more open and “skateable.”
This is a huge difference from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series, which does not offer this. The game’s tutorial doesn’t really tell you about this, but it’s pretty easy to get the hang of. Make sure you’re ready to fly and land before you take off.
How to Glide / Skydive / Fly in Skate

To start gliding or skydiving, you need to find a good launch point. Skyscrapers, cranes, and highway overpasses are perfect for getting enough height. You can either just jump off the edge or skate off it. If you choose to skate off, you have to remember to get rid of your skateboard right as you launch into the air by hitting the Y button on Xbox or the Triangle on PlayStation.
Once you’re in the air without your board, the real fun begins. To start gliding, just hold down the right shoulder button and the A button on Xbox or X on PlayStation at the same time. You’ll need to keep holding both buttons down to keep your glide going. While you’re in the air, you can use the analog stick to control your pitch. Pushing it down will make you go faster, and pulling it up will let you coast and get more airtime.
The game also has some pretty hilarious glitches you can use to launch yourself even higher into the air, which feels a lot like the physics from the old Skate games. One of these is called the Rolling Jump Glitch. To do it, you hold the trigger to roll, then immediately press the jump button while rolling, and release the roll trigger at the same time as you jump.
If you do it right, it’ll send you flying into the air, and then you can start your glide. Another tricky but fun one is the Ledge Drop Launch Glitch. You drop from a ledge and then, super fast, you click in both analog sticks and press both bumper/shoulder buttons at the same time. This will literally catapult you high into the sky. These glitches might be tough to pull off every time, but they add a whole new layer of fun to your aerial adventures in San Vansterdam.
When Can You Skydive in Skate?

To start gliding, you’ll need to find a really high spot in the city in Skate. Think skyscrapers, giant cranes, or big highway overpasses—they’re all perfect launch pads. Once you’ve picked a spot, you can just sprint off the edge with the left stick or skate off; just make sure you’re online, because that causes other issues.
If you skate, just remember to dismiss your board by pressing Y on Xbox or Triangle on PlayStation as you leave the edge. The main trick to gliding is holding down the right shoulder button (R1/RB) and the jump button (X/A) at the same time. This triggers the “Spread Eagle” move, which lets your character glide through the air.
You control your flight with the analog stick. Pushing the stick down makes you go faster, and pulling it up helps you stay in the air longer and go farther. This control system lets you navigate through different aerial challenges, like flying through bridge supports for quests in Skate like “Take the Plunge.”
