The citizens of your settlement in Manor Lords are the most important aspect of expanding your territory. If the families in your city aren’t happy, they’ll start to leave or simply won’t work on their assigned tasks. To make sure your families stick around in Manor Lords, you need to always have a high Approval Rating, which measures how happy all of your citizens are.
What is Approval in Manor Lords?
Before you can understand how to increase your Approval in Manor Lords, you need to know what it is. Your Approval Rating measures the total happiness of the families who call your settlement home. The Approval of your settlement is indicated by the percentage on the hotbar near the top left of your screen.
A high or low Approval Rating can have a massive effect on how your settlement operates. If your Approval is too low for too long, families will start to leave and reduce your population. Moreover, any families that stay in a low-approved settlement can start to commit crimes. Essentially, if you have a low Approval Rating, no families will join your settlement, families start to leave, and crimes are committed by the families that are left.
Naturally, you want to avoid this from happening at all costs in Manor Lords.
Increase Approval Rating in Manor Lords
To ensure your Approval Rating stays above 50% (which is the threshold you want to maintain), you can do the following actions:
- Build Burgage Plots for any citizens without a home. Homelessness is the number one factor that drives down Approval
- Ensure your families have access to every Amenity they require. You also need to build Marketplaces so the families have access to specific items they need.
- Set low Taxes for the settlement, which is only available after building a Manor
- Upgrade your Burgage Plots and other buildings as you progress
As long as you’re building new structures and homes for your families, the Approval Rating should stay fairly high. The system works on three ratings, which are associated with three percentage ranges:
- Low Approval – Under 50%
- Medium Approval – 50-74%
- High Approval – 75-100%
As long as you stay within the Medium Approval range, your families will continue to be happy and do their jobs with a smile in Manor Lords.
