Hello Games, the developers of No Man’s Sky, just keep giving players so much new content at a very rapid pace. The new Adrift expedition allows players to travel to an abandoned universe and up their survival game.
With new updates come new changes, and the most recent change is the removal of Deuterium flowers on planets. So, players have been left wondering how to get or make Deuterium in No Man’s Sky after this recent change; here is how.

How to Get Deuterium in No Man’s Sky

Deuterium is obtained by combining Di-hydrogen and Tritium or Di-hydrogen and Silicate Powder in a Medium or Large Refiner in No Man’s Sky. As you require two materials to combine into one, this cannot be done in small refiners like your Backpack Refiner or the Portable Refiner.
You can make a Medium or Large Refiner at one of your planetary bases, but the best way is to make a Refinery Room aboard your Freighter which works as a Large Refiner but does not require refueling.
Here are the recipes to make Deuterium in a refiner:
- Di-hydrogen 1x + Tritium 1x = Deuterium 1x
- Di-hydrogen 1x + Silicate Powder 1x = Deuterium 1x
This 1:1 ratio makes it easy to understand how much of these materials you are going to need to get the exact amount of Deuterium you want.

Old NMS players will recognize Deuterium as the material you would get from blue flowering plants on planet surfaces. This has since been removed and can no longer be acquired through those plants. These plants would also give you a temporary infinite jetpack boost which will be missed.
