If you want to wage wars and challenge other towns you need to create your own Militia in Manor Lords. This militia will consist of able-bodied townsfolk who can fight and defend your town’s honor during battle. But, for these men to defend, they need their own small and large shields in the game.
Don’t know how to make them? Here are all the details!
How Do I Make Small Shields In Manor Lords?
To make small shields in Manor Lords you need to go through these steps:
- First, build a Logging Camp (2x timber) and assign a family to produce timber for your settlement.
- Then, you need to chop down the collected timber using a Sawpit (2x timber) to make them turn into Planks. Make sure to assign a family to the Sawpit for plank production as well.
- After that, you need to upgrade to level 2 burgage plots so that you can build the Joiner’s Workshop.
- Finally, invest 4 planks to build the Joiner’s Workshop and turn one plank into one Small Shield for your Militia Footmen in Manor Lords.
Once you have enough small shields for an army, just assign your Militia Footmen so that they can equip the small shield for their own defense.
Note: You need 36 or more male settlers in your village to start forming a Militia.

How Do I Make Large Shields In Manor Lords?
To make a Large Shield in Manor Lords, you will need to access the Joiner’s Workshop and use two planks for it. Similar to the small shields, first you need the Logging Camp, Sawpit, Level 2 Burgage Plots, and the Joiner’s Workshop.
Note: Remember to change the production focus to shields; otherwise the Joiner’s Workshop will default to only making Wooden Parts for your settlement.
Once you have the Large Shield, simply assign your Spear Militia and watch them arm themselves with one Spear and one Large Shield each.
