How to Decrypt and Open Encrypted Vaults in The First Descendant
To open Encrypted Vaults in The First Descendant, you will need a Precision Code Analyzer which is obtained from the “Anticipated Ambush Point” Battlefield Mission near the first Outpost in Sterile Land.
Once you have a Precision Code Analyzer, here is what you need to do:
- Start the decryption process by approaching an Encrypted Vault and holding the interact button
- Press the interact button again when the red line is inside the lighter-colored cone to complete the mini-game
- This will now open the Encrypted Vault
Note: There is a bug currently where the vault won’t open despite having a Precision Code Analyzer. To fix this, you will need to restart your game and try again.

How to Find Encrypted Vaults in The First Descendant
If you are having trouble finding other Encrypted Vaults to open in The First Descendant, all you need to do is use your scanner (press R3) and listen to the distinct beep that it gives off when an Encrypted Vault is nearby. Follow the sound to its source, and you will find your vault there.
You can find multiple Encrypted Vaults in the Classified Zone Battlefield in Sterile Land. You will get the Magister’s Hidden Assets quest in this battlefield, which tasks you with decrypting Encrypted Vaults. If you run out of Precision Code Analyzers, you can just repeat the Anticipated Ambush Point Battlefield Mission on the first battlefield to farm them.
