Taking on horrifying monsters is more fun or terrifying (depending on the company you keep) with friends. And the new Soulslike Lords of the Fallen offers plenty in terms of multiplayer. Unlike other Soulsborne games, this new release by Hexworks has its gameplay set in two distinct worlds. This, of course, means a rather diverse co-op/multiplayer experience.
There are many new concepts introduced in Lords of the Fallen to make traversal through two realms a thoroughly engaging experience. The same is true of the multiplayer which is made all the more challenging with the introduction of new PvP mechanics. Lords of the Fallen also features some elaborate arenas designated just for multiplayer engagement.
Here’s a rundown of all features available in Lords of the Fallen multiplayer and co-op mode.

Lords Of The Fallen Multiplayer Guide

As with everything in Lords of the Fallen the multiplayer feature can be accessed through Vestiges including planted seed ones. Before doing that, you need to be logged into the game’s servers.
The game logs you in automatically if you are connected to the internet, but on the off chance that it doesn’t, you can do it yourself manually by selecting the Log In option available at the vestiges. The option for manual log in only appears if you aren’t already logged in.
When you are connected to the server, the Log In option disappears and instead you have the Multiplayer menu option. Selecting it will lead you to a fairly straightforward menu with the four types of Multiplayer gameplay options available in Lords of the Fallen.
Beckon Lampbearer
This is a co-op gameplay feature in Lords of the Fallen which allows a fellow Lampbearer to join you in conquering either of the Moustead’s realms. Since you are the host here, the session will feature all that you have unlocked and available in your playthrough. This option also allows you to gain a majority of the collectively gained rewards during the session while the guests are allotted only a third.
Levelling up and purchases work pretty much the same as in single-player mode with access to all other vestige options including level-ups and store options. If the guest dies during this session, they’ll get to spectate the session till the host decides to resurrect them or access the vestige. Conversely, upon the death of the host, both parties are teleported into the Umbral Realm to start over again.
Beckon Friend
This multiplayer option in Lords of the Fallen allows you to either join a friend’s session or let them join your session. This option only applies to people on your friends list and much like the previous multiplayer mode involves PvE gameplay. You can also allow restricted access to your sessions by setting a password for your multiplayer that you can provide to those in your friend list. This also makes it easy for friends to identify and join sessions hosted by you and vice versa.
Beckon Friend works with similar mechanics as the Beckon Lampbearer option and the reward system is also the same.
Accompany Lampbearer
This option allows you to join sessions hosted by other players. The hosts here activate their Beckon Lampbearer mode which will allow you to join the multiplayer session.
Yet again the host receives the majority of the rewards while you, the guest, are entitled to only one-third. The death system is also quite similar, so you being the guest will have to rely on the host to get revived or restart the playthrough in Umbral. Since you are joining another lampbearer, it’s their world that will be reflected in the session. So, all unlocks and achievements will depend on their progress.
Slaughter Lampbearer
This is arguably the best part of multiplayer in Lords of the Fallen. This mode allows you to either invade a lampbearer’s game or get invaded by one. Either option involves a direct PvP battle with the victor getting the spoils which in this case is Vigor. Only the host can lose vigor in this mode and only the guests can gain it upon defeating the players they are invading.
Since this is direct PvP, the resurrection option is suspended in this multiplayer mode. So, an invader only gets one chance at defeating a host. If a host is defeated, the session ends and the guest earns their vigor along with severed hands. If the host defeats the invader, they also gain the severed hands but not their vigor.
Rewards In Lords Of The Fallen Multiplayer
For all three PvE multiplayer modes, you and your companions can gain pilfered coins which can be traded in for various rewards at the Shrine to Orius in Skyrest. Here’s a list of rewards for co-op gameplay in Lords of the Fallen.
