Elderwood in Palia is a scary place because what happens if an NPC randomly decides to trap you in a lair, and it’s up to you to find your way out? Well, that is exactly what happens in the quest ‘Like A Shiprunt’, and this guide will show you exactly where to go, which walls to break and which ledges to climb to escape the cave Tamala trapped you in!
Escaping The Lair

Once you’re in the Beast’s Lair, your first order of business should be using your Watering Can to collect water from a puddle towards the east end of the lair. Then, use your Watering Can on the basin and it will read a message saying “Flow infuses your hand”. This enables you to break down flow-infused plants, which is necessary to escape the lair. Opposite the basin, you’ll see some vines blocking the way. With your flow-infused hand, use your axe and break through the vines and loot the chest on the other side of it for 1 Mining Mystery Bag.

Once that is done, climb the rope wall on the left side of the treasure chest. At the top, interacting with the door will lead you to another place with a basin and a flow-infused wall.

Water the basin and break the wall down, and enter the new room. Use your hoe to dig through heaps of soil placed across various parts of the room. One of these piles will contain a key for a trapdoor at the corner of the room.

Your quest will be updated as you land in another room. Peering to the depths towards your right will start a cutscene with a mysterious boy. Re-infuse your flow and break the wall on the left and slide down. Take a right and you’ll notice a ledge you can jump up to, on the left.

Climb the ledge and head into an area with a basin and a sprout of water coming from the middle of the wall. Break the flow-infused wall to your left of the basin and slide down again. Take an immediate right after landing, and keep moving through the cave, and you’ll see a basin up ahead. Infuse the flow and head straight.

You’ll reach a Y-intersection, with walls to your left and right. Break the wall on the right. Keep moving forward, through what looks like ruins of buildings and random stairs along the way.

You’ll eventually reach a small area over a small ledge, with a basin and a wall, leading into a maze. Navigate the maze carefully, while retracing your steps to re-infuse your flow, as you’ll run into the flow-infused walls very often.

At the end of the maze, you’ll reach the boy you previously saw, in a vine-covered prison. Break the vines one last time to start a cutscene with the boy. After chatting with the boy, as well as an appearance by Subira, you’ll be teleported back to Elderwood.
The end of your talk with Subira marks the completion of the quest, ‘Like A Shiprunt’! Check our walkthrough here for all treasure chest locations in Elderwood, and for quests like One Majiri’s Trash and Answering the Call.
