While you can go guns blazing into every Starfield mission, there are some quests that require you to be quiet and sneaky. You can build up your stealth meter and earn points in the skill tree by eliminating enemies using your sneak attack.
But it seems this sneak attack has been causing issues for Starfield players all around the world. Some have reported that the sneak attack is not counting. If you’re one of those unfortunate victims, here are some possible fixes that could help.
How To Fix Sneak Attack Not Counting In Starfield
Attempting sneak attacks can count toward the skill tree progression and increase the Tier for Stealth. If your sneak attacks in Starfield are not counting for some reason, try these fixes:
- Take Off Suit or Equipment – Suits or equipment with chameleon property can hamper your stealth in the game. You can try taking off the suit and attempting the sneak attack on any enemy to see if it is counting.
- Without Companion – Sometimes your companions tagging along might bug out the stealth meter. So, you should dismiss your companion and see if the sneak attacks are counting afterward or not.
- Hidden Stealth Meter – Make sure your stealth meter reads “hidden” instead of caution when attempting sneak attacks. If for some reason it appears only as “caution”, just try to sneak up to the birds found in Kazal and attack. This can fix the GUI to show “hidden” after all the birds have been taken care of.
- Full Restart – If all other solutions fail, you can try restarting your console or PC to refresh all the problems and warnings you might be experiencing.
Keep in mind that while I did not encounter this problem during my gameplay. I have compiled these solutions from players who experienced the sneak attack issue and reported it on several forums. If these fixes don’t work for your game, I suggest posting your experience in the official Starfield subreddit.
