As Lara Croft travels all over Egypt to save her Mentor, she faces powerful ancient Gods and mysterious Assassins. The Desert Railroad is one such level with danger at every corner and hidden secrets that are easy to miss. This guide will help you find all of the secrets and vessels as Lara heads toward the vast lands of Alexandria.
Level 12: The Desert Railroad Guide
After Lara finds the detailed Egyptian Map, she decides to continue her mission of finding the Horus Armor. The mischievous guide will inform you that Von Croy is heading towards Alexandria with his henchmen. Use ammo carefully during this level since you’ll be fighting multiple henchmen sent by Von Croy.
A handy trick while battling the assassins is to put your weapon away while facing them, they do the same and slowly start walking toward you. Use this moment to quickly take your weapon out and attack before they get too close.
How To Find The Secrets & Vessels in Desert Railroad
There are 3 Secrets & 7 Breakable Vessels that you can find during the Desert Railroad level.
Breakable Vessel #1, #2 & #3
Lara begins this level inside a boxcar with two levers nearby. Pull the working one to open a door on the right side. Jump onto the next carriage and move right, where you’ll see three compartments. Each will contain one breakable vessel.
After entering the first compartment, open the first door to reveal a crate that can be broken by shooting it. The first breakable vessel will have a small medipak, while the second holds some shotgun shells. As you go to the third compartment, be careful as you’ll be ambushed by one of the henchmen. The third breakable vessel will be empty.
Breakable Vessel #4
After taking him down, jump onto the next carriage and handle the two assassins who’ll shoot at you from either side of the train. Climb onto the orange carriage through the ladder on the left and enter it through the hatch at the top. Try to take down the first assassin here while he’s still climbing out of the hatch. The second and the third ones can be shot at after him.
If you enter the boxcars without killing them, they can ambush you and steal the medipak. The first boxcar will have a small medipak and some shotgun shells hidden inside a breakable vessel. Watch your back while leaving this boxcar, as there’ll be another assassin hiding in the shadows near the door.
Secret #1
After defeating that assassin, climb onto the next boxcar using the ladder in the center. You can’t go directly to the next carriage; instead, you’ll need to hang down from the side and move sideways towards the next one. From here, jump onto the next orange boxcar and climb to the top. An assassin will climb up from the other end, so quickly get rid of him. Drop down and grab the edge of the boxcar, where you’ll see a door automatically opening for you. There will be a large medipak on your left, along with Secret #1. Be sure to collect the ammo and arrows as well.
Secret #2 & Breakable Vessel #5, #6, #7
Drop down from the doors and move sideways towards the right to reach the ladder. Climb up and drop down towards the right side of the train as there’s another door here. There will be two shotgun shell boxes towards the left corner. Pick up the shotgun and the crowbar on the right side of this compartment. Use the crowbar to fix the broken lever and open the next door. An assassin will quickly rush in so be ready to take him down.
Jump onto the next boxcar and climb the ladder on the right side. There will be two henchmen on the top of these boxcars. Drop down into the first hatch and use a crowbar on the closed wooden panel in front of you. Light a flare for vision. There will be three breakable vessels here, along with Secret #2 and a special Grenade Gun. Breaking the vessel will also reveal flash grenades.
Secret #3
Climb back up through the hatch and move onto the next empty flat car. Be cautious, as you’ll be ambushed by more henchmen. Go over to the blue carriage where you’ll have to take down some more assassins. You’ll notice that you’re back in the first compartment. Go towards the other end of this carriage and jump onto the next orange one. There will be some wooden panels in front of you.
Use your crowbar to open the one on the lower right side to reveal a small medipak & Secret #3. Take the crowbar again and put it into the place of the broken lever. Pulling it will detach the boxcar you’re in from the rest of the train. Go towards any of the doors to complete the Desert Railroad level.
