In Palia, the Elderwood expansion hides more than just bugs and stables. It also hides a key item needed to complete the quest called ‘Bugging Out’: The Batterfly Beans. Though it may seem like a simple task, many players are left puzzled trying to track it down. This guide will help you find them fast, with a few extra tips to make the search easier!
Best Locations to Find Batterfly Beans

Once your in Elderwood, head over to Mitana Grove, North of the Central Stables to start your hunt for the batterfly beans. Keep in mind that these are pretty rare to spawn, so you might have to shift servers by fast travelling to your base and coming back. The Batterfly Bean is a small green plant that blends into its surroundings, making it tricky to spot. It’s most recognizable by its bright pink pods that contrast with the green leaves when you stand near them.

These plants often grow on the base of large trees and among bushes. Once you’re in Mitana Grove, use your map as an indicator to find the “large” trees, if you’re doubting your eyes. Make sure to go full circle around the base to make sure you didn’t miss it. If you spot a purple essence swirling at the base of a plant, it means the plant is infected. To harvest it, you’ll need either a special potion from Tamala’s store or the Bag of Illusion relic—both will cleanse the infection and let you safely collect the plant.

Another location to find the Batterfly Beans is between Honeymeil Slope and Jenesse Pass. Between these areas, look around the base of the big brown trees and try your luck at finding them.
If you’ve only found 1 so far, don’t worry. It is possible to harvest them at your base, as you get their seeds when you collect the plant. They require 2×2 plots to be planted, so make sure you have enough space. Once you plant them, don’t forget to keep them hydrated during this time, as well as remove any weeds that grow around your harvest. You can also use SpeedyGrow fertilizer, which will decrease the time needed for it to grow. For this, you’ll need 4 fertilizers per plant.
