In Grounded 2, finding weed stems can be initially confusing because the game uses specific names for plants, and the one you need is not actually called a “weed.” This is usually what trips people up when looking for Weed Stems.
You might think to start by cutting down plants labeled as “weeds,” but this is not the right method. Luckily, once you know how to get them, you’ll be able to grab more than you need.
Where Can I Find The Weed Stems In Grounded 2?

The “weed stems” you are looking for in Grounded 2 come from dandelions. Even though dandelions are technically weeds, they are only called “dandelions” in Grounded 2. These plants are tall and have round, grey seed heads at the top. You can find them scattered around the snackbar area, but you’ll need to look up through the thick grass to spot their fluffy tops.
Another good place to search is near the Entrance and Cemetery regions, which are close to the starting Snackbar area. A useful spot to check is the KLBB News Camera landmark, which is east of the Snackbar Ranger Outpost. From there, you can get a clear view of the yard and spot tall plants like dandelions more easily.

How to Get Weed Stems From Dandelions

When you find a dandelion, you’ll need to chop it down using your Omni-Tool axe. Keep in mind that this can take a while with the basic axe, so make sure no enemies are nearby before you start. Once you cut down the dandelion, it will break into six weed stems.
Just like grass planks, you can’t put weed stems in your inventory. Instead, you have to carry them over your shoulder and take them to where you want to build. If you get hit while carrying them, you’ll drop the stems, so don’t forget to go back and pick them up if that happens.
Since you can only carry a few of these large items at once (usually around five), you might need to make several trips if your blueprint requires more than that. For example, the Hatchery needs six weed stems, meaning you’ll have to go back at least once to get the last one. To make things easier, it’s a good idea to place the blueprint for whatever you’re building (like the Hatchery) on the ground first. That way, you can add the weed stems as you collect them instead of carrying them around.
Even if you don’t have all the materials right away, you can still put in what you have, and any dropped stems should stay where they are for a while during your play session. While you’re gathering weed stems, you might also want to pick up dandelion fuzz, which is useful for gliding, and other nearby resources like Thistle Needles and Acorns if they’re available.
