Wuthering Waves, mainly being a gacha game, means you can spend Tides (gacha currency) to roll for your favorite characters and 5-star weapons in the game. Within this wishing for a character banner lies a certain pity system, which makes it so that you don’t have to spend too much of the currency to secure your reward.
However, this Pity System is banner-dependent in the game. So, to make everything easier to understand, here’s our explanation.

How Does Pity Work In Wuthering Waves?
Similar to the Pity System found in popular ARPGs like Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves also guarantees 5-star characters in particular banners after you have wished/rolled on that banner a certain amount of times.
The Pity System in all banners of Wuthering Waves follows these rules:
- Every 10 pulls on banners (permanent or limited-time) guarantees at least one 4-star character or weapon.
- Every 80 pulls on banners (permanent or limited-time) guarantees at least one 5-star character or weapon.
- There is no 50/50 chance on the weapons banners so you will get the desired 4 or 5-star weapon once pity is triggered.
- There is a 50/50 chance on the Character banners so the player will either get the banner-specific 4 or 5-star or a regular 5-star character.
- However, if the players fail the first 50/50, the next pity does guarantee the rate-up character from that banner.
On the other hand, the Novice Convene banner has its own pity system rules:
- Every 50 pulls guarantees a 5-star character.
- The price of 10 pulls is reduced to only 8 Convenes in total.
- Once players roll all 50 wishes, the Novice Convene banner permanently closes.

Does Pity Carry Over In Wuthering Waves?
Yes, pity does carry over to different banners in Wuthering Waves. There is a separate pity count for all the different types of banners featured in the Convene: Permanent Character Banner, Permanent Weapon Banner, Limited-Time Character Banner, and Limited-Time Weapon Banner.
To explain it in simpler terms, suppose you pull 60 times from a Limited-Time Character Banner and do not get the 5-Star character. The pity will carry over to the next Limited-Time Character Banner, and you will get the 5-Star from the new banner within 20 pulls.
How To Check Pity In Wuthering Waves

Wuthering Waves Gacha Currency
The gacha in Wuthering Waves has a total of three different currencies, which you can either save up (if you’re an F2P player) or spend real money to get into the game. They are:
- Lustrous Tides – Currency for the standard banner like the permanent character banner and the beginner banner (blue in color.)
- Radiant Tides – Currency for the limited-time character banners (yellow in color.)
- Forging Tides – Currency for the limited-time weapon banner (yellow sword-like icon.)
- Asterite – Asterites are special currencies you can acquire by completing missions, daily and weekly quests, and other challenges in the game. They can be converted to Tides to pull on the Convene banners of Wuthering Waves.
You also do not have to start spending real money for wishes as the game offers redeemable codes and 108 free pulls right at the start.
