Within just a few days of Wuthering Waves’ official game release, the devs received a plethora of complaints regarding the game’s lack of optimization. So, to apologize, Wuthering Waves has decided to provide a completely free 5-star Resonator Convene banner where players can pick one free character of their choosing.
But, the choice gets a little tough and overwhelming when you can only select one character from the entire banner. Here’s my take on what would be the best choice for you.

Which 5-Star Resonator Should I Pick In Wuthering Waves?
The Beginner’s Choice Convene offers one free 5-star character among the following:
- Verina (Spectro)
- Encore (Fusion)
- Calcharo (Electro)
- Lingyang (Glacio)
- Jianxin (Aero)
Verina
Verina uses a Rectifier to mass heal teammates in battle and prevent them from dying. One of her special abilities, the Photosynthesis Mark is applied to enemies when she uses her Resonance Liberation skill to heal the team.
The mark then adds as a counter to enemy attacks dealing more damage. She also has a passive that slowly regenerates HP for all party members.
Encore
Encore can act as the sub-DPS of the party with her Fusion skills. Her main abilities include the Dissonance which acts as damage reduction and then it follows up with a Fusion damage attack once the state ends.
Her Fusion skills are also very unique and no other support teammate can match up to her in battle.
Calcharo
Calcharo’s Electro skills make him the main-DPS in any battle and his Electro Broadblade can deal some serious damage to enemies. In order for him to reach his full potential you might need to farm a ton of materials for leveling him up.
Paired up with a good support character for passive healing, and buffs Calcharo’s Electro abilities can be super impressive if you decide to pick him from the Beginner’s Choice Convene.
Lingyang
Lingyang being a Glacio user can deal some heavy Glacio damage to enemies who are more prone to ice damage. If paired with the right support (Sanhua), Lingyang’s Glacio skills are boosted to deal more damage to the enemies in battle.
You can consider Lingyang as a good DPS choice if you have no other option to pick from.
Jianxin
Jianxin’s Aero skills make her a very useful support in the team. She can use her abilities to provide shields, heal teammates, and even gather up all the scattered enemies in one place to deal damage to them at the same time.
However, this crowd-control skill of hers does not work for bosses in Wuthering Waves. But, she can counter enemy attacks with her parry and deal damage.
If you want a good 5-star support character for your roster, then you should definitely pick Verina, as her team buffs and heals can be super helpful when dealing with powerful Tacet Discords. If you already have a healer, you can always use Calcharo as the Electro DPS and use his single-target attacks to your advantage.
You can also choose Jianxin for aesthetic purposes since her character model is one of the fan favorites in Wuthering Waves. Keep in mind that these are only suggestions based on the character’s abilities for the sake of a balanced team composition. You are always free to choose whichever one you’d prefer on your team, even if you are not picking the suggested ones.

How To Get Free 5-Star Resonator In Wuthering Waves?
To get the free 5-Star Resonator, you need to do the following:
- Claim the Voucher of Reciprocal Tides from your mail (Mail should be titled “[Rewards] A Special Thanks from Wuthering Waves Dev Team.”)
- Navigate to the Convene menu and select the “Choice” banner.
- Select your preferred 5-Star Resonator and see the banner change to that character according to your choice.
- Click on the Convene button in the banner and use the voucher to redeem your 5-Star Resonator.
Once you have claimed your prize, the banner will disappear and you will be able to level up your selected character.

Wuthering Waves Free 5-Star Resonator Details
The Wuthering Waves 5-Star Resonator banner offering one free 5-star character in the game will be available from May 26, 2024, at 10 AM (UTC+8) until May 22, 2025 (That’s right, almost a whole year.) So, you do not have to worry about being unable to claim this banner.
Just make sure you have reached Union Level 8 and unlocked the Convene gacha system in Wuthering Waves to claim the free character from the banner.
Other than that, if you want to roll for more characters, you can redeem codes and get up to 108 free pulls in the game.
